So I want to go into commercial MJ production.

Granted, this is a legal gray area but it was inspired by the Elections thread on CA prop19.

Medical marijuana dispensaries are popping up everywhere in CA already.

The magic question, who is supplying them? I read through a few boards on the subjects who say its the patients but alot people are saying no, because demand is by far outstripping supply that one would expect from such operations.

Yet they still are staying supplied.

So that said, is there someplace out there in the US with permits to grow and cultivate marijuana commercially for medicinal puposes or are they truly being supplied by patients?

IF so, what kind of legal requirements are there to go into production?

I have smoked pot all of once in my life, I liked it, I could see why others would, but infomation on how to go into legal production seems sparse compared to the vast amounts of data on dozens of criminal activities sprinkled all over the net.

I already run my own business, but hey, diversification is often a valuable concept.

I would humbly like to take this time to apply for the position of General Manager in your fine company. I bring vast experience and technical aptitude to the table, am known for my tireless work and…
…look! Cheetos!

Good question - I have a friend who wants to become a supplier as well, he is just awaiting the voting to determine if it is possible or not. He even has 6 strains picked out [who knew, I discovered it this morning when I was chatting with him online]

I find the whole process fascinating, I started reading up on it because of all the discussion about medical pot.

AS NSAIDS badly bother my heart condition, I am seriously considering MM for pain control … and wish it would just get through the entire process and become legal somewhere, short of moving to Amsterdam [very impractical…] though I think I wold prefer to grow my own - I am sort of the do it myself type, I get a kick out of making and growing things. You would not believe my aerogrden basil plant, it is over a year old and growing so fast we have to trim it weekly!

Becoming a supplier is hard, most places already have people they buy from who have been doing it for a long long time and their stuff will be better than yours.

Oakland approves plan to license medical marijuana farms

If it’s legal, then it isn’t going to be lucrative. Every 16 year old kid in the Valley who’s ever smoked pot has the same ambition as you do (and half are probably actually doing it), and without the law creating a particular markup for the illegal status of it, its just another form of agriculture.

Speaking of which, I’m willing to make you a hell of a deal on 12 gently used llamas, which really are a fantastic agricultural money making opportunity…

I think I mentioned it in another thread, but I live next door to a growing operation. It is sited in a nice, suburban neighborhood. The growers also own a dispensary.

I believe, here in Colorado, that dispensary operators are allowed to grow a certain amount per patient that they have (three mature plants, I think).

So, the best way to get into the production side would be to associate with one or more dispensaries to become their exclusive purveyor of fine leafy merchandise. I assume as long as all the paperwork lines up, you would be fine, but you would need to closely manage your patient/plant ratio.

True but there are a ton of ambitious 16 year olds that think they can run a computer shop and yet I still have a functioning business.

Wait a minute! Are you saying that there is no longer a federal ban on the growing of marijuana in the US?

Not sure, I thought it was illegal to even have the seeds unless they were denatured and in bird food …

I know medical marijuana is not legal in my state.
