A friend of mine is trying to put together a grow op in New Mexico and I have connections there and I wanted to see if maybe I could set myself up as a broker.
What are the legalities? How does it work generally? New Mexico specific information would be helpful but I am interested in any general info too.
The problem is, even in those states with medical marijuana laws, the growth and possession of marijuana is still against federal law, so you want to be careful, because legally, the whole thing is still up in the air right now.
It is an interesting question. Here in Los Angeles there are hundreds of medical marijuana shops, most offering a variety of strains. How the heck do they get their inventory?
If anyone’s interested, the documentary Super High Me is pretty interesting with regards to medical marijuana.
A stand up comedian (Doug Benson) goes for 30 days without smoking marijuana, and then goes for another 30 days smoking every day. In between, it talks about the medical marijuana system in California. It’s interesting, but very one sided about the debate.
If you have Netflix, you can watch it streaming, or at least could a few months ago when I watched it.
It’s distributed through collectives or co-operatives, or at least that’s how it’s supposed to go.
In LA, as mentioned, everyone and their mom realized the bonanza that is medical marijuana. There are a handful of doctors that pass out “prescriptions” (note that they recommendations–not actual prescriptions, as prescribing marijuana would give the DEA pause to yank a license since as far as the Feds are concerned it has zero medicinal value) and these “prescriptions” will require a 15-20 minute visit, the proper exchange of symptoms, and a $300-400 “office visit” fee. Note that insurance won’t cover it.
In any event, once you’ve got your ID card, you can show up at a collective and register, and begin perusing the available inventory and make your purchase. I believe the state allows each ‘patient’ to purchase 8 ounces per month, which should be sufficient to ensure one is completely fucking baked 24/7.
As for how it works in New Mexico, I would imagine getting in contact with the local NORML chapter would be a good place to start.
Or to ensure you have enough to distribute to people who don’t have medical marijuana cards. Most of the dealers I’ve met in California are just people with cards.
Even in the Netherlands it is illegal to grow and distribute marijuana. And I’m not just talking about the “Yeah, it’s technically illegal, but it’s de-criminalized.” For buying a little in a coffeeshop–sure0–that’s true. But the growing (for profit) and distributing is another matter entirely.
It’s a pretty dicey proposition there; you can imagine how risky it would be here in the Backward States of America.
Sure it is, some of my best posts that have frustrated the hell out of my core of nemeses the most have been posted when I was baked out of my mind. If you’re not posting here baked out of your mind then you are likely taking the weight of forum posts WAY too seriously man.
Things not to do while totally baked:
Take your SATs
Come out to your Mother
Operate heavy machinery
If there is anything that is totally appropriate to do while baked it’s post on internet message boards as well as other video games.
