So I watched Transformers 3x yesterday ....(spoilers)

Being that I didn’t play with Transformers when I was a kid and all I know about them is from the movie Which I liked alot. It was kick ass in four kinds of ways. I have a burning thought:

Are there any Girl Transformers? I didn’t see one slightly estrogen-filled chick transformer at all. Does this mean the planet they are from is populated with homosexual robots or what, exactly? Are they going to be featured in some kind of Gay Pride Parade along with Dumbledore and Tinky Winky?
Thank you for reading my burning question.

Maybe they just forgot where they were, a la the Ents.

Maybe that’s why they were so keen to get the Spark, it coulbe a ephemism (box).

Maybe they run Windows.

There are some, but very few. If you watch the special features, it’s mentioned that Arvee almost made it into the movie–she’s a motorcycle autobot.

There are girl Transformers the best known being Arcee

Bah! I knew I got the name wrong. Thanks for correcting me :o

Judging from the toy, the motorcycle the soldier hijacks at the end of the movie may be Arcee. Or, well, may not. But it’s the same model.

Technically speaking, all transformers should be gender-neutral. They don’t reproduce sexually, being metal sculptures animated by a pseudo-mystical force imparted from the Allspark. Nor do they (AFAIK) form heterosexual or homosexual pairings or relationships. Any gender they have or appear to have would be merely a part of the persona they take on to interact with humans with, similar to Jazz’s adoption of gangsta-speak. But yes, there have been transformers who have had female personas in the TV shows and comics, and there was originally one planned for the movie. She was removed because the producers thought the audience would be confused by the idea of a female Transformer.

Of course, in the Transformers universe, old trasnformers have long white beards, so hey, ifnthey want to have some male/female connectors, you gonna worry?

You missed Beast Wars, didn’t you? There were two hetero pairings in there–a hawk and a siberian tiger (I forget the names offhand), and Black Arachnia and Silverbolt. There was a third in Beast Machines–Rattrap and a plant-based transformer.

And I think Arcee might have been removed due to budget constraints–all those effects (computer generated and otherwise–anything that could be filmed was) don’t come cheap, especially not when you’re throwing cars all over the place, splitting buses in half and creating giant alien robots out of thin air.

Air Razor and Tigertron. They were eventually combined into Tigerhawk, who, being a separate being, can be called their son. And rattrap’s girlfriend was Botanica.

I can’t remember the G-1 cartoon well enough to talk about it, but the Dreamwave comics presented Arcee as Hot Rod’s girlfriend (and Hot Rod was a jealous sort).

Looking up Elita-1, her romantic connection to Prime is actually series canon for the G-1 cartoons.

What? No love for Elita One?

In the G-1 cartoon, IIRC Arcee was Springer’s GF (or at least implied she was,) not Hot Rod/Rodimus Prime’s.
