Not whatshisface with the hand, though! God, I was stuck in a car repair waiting room just a few weeks ago and was astonished to see that somebody let him be in another movie. (On the other hand, I think it also had Jimmy Fallon, so it wasn’t like it was a good movie or anything.)
I just watched The Body. It’s probably the best episode of a major character dying in a T.V. show I’ve ever seen.
Anya’s reaction to the whole thing was great.
Speaking of Anya, the episode where they spawn her troll boyfriend was hilarious. Gachnar The Fear Demon is my favorite one time bad guy, but the [del]ogre[/del] troll has to be the runner up. He drank two kegs of ale like it was nothing!
My best moment EVER (at least from Season 6, I haven’t ranked for all seasons) is directly after that (IIRC) when he and Buffy are talking in the training room:
It was the perfect moment of levity in a horrifically, and deliciously, dark season.
It sounds like you and I have very similar taste. Anya’s reaction to Joyce’s death was the one I most related to, and I also loved the troll boyfriend.
Oh yeah, I love that moment. I just think it makes sense that Giles would die of laughter when he thinks of Buffy and Spike together. I mean…Spike? He’s the worst!
So I just finished the fifth season. The finale kept me on the edge of my seat but I didn’t understand how Buffy just assumed her blood was the same as Dawn’s. They’re fake sisters but why did she assume their blood was the same?
I had a problem with that too, not because it made no sense, but because it could have made sense with the addition of one line somewhere in the season. Anything saying the monks used her blood to turn the key into dawn form or something like that, and poof! it makes sense.
Nah. I think that would’ve been too obvious - it would have felt like telegraphing. As is, we have Spike’s wonderful monologue (“Of course it’s her blood”) early in “The Gift” to set up that blood is equivalent to a person’s essence. Given that we know that the monks made Dawn from Buffy, it’s a small logical leap for Buffy to intuit that Dawn’s blood and Buffy’s blood must be the same. Was she certain it would work? No. But that only makes her sacrifice even more heroic.
I just finished watching S6, and my opinion is that it’s quite good. My second favorite in the series so far. As the season goes on, though, you’ll begin to understand why some people might not like it.
