So, I'm going to Candlestick Park on Thursday night

Seems like it’s the last concert there…some 72 year old guy is going to play a bunch of 45 year old songs. I think he’s up for it. Should be fun.

awesome! Have a great time.

I saw him in Berkeley 24 years ago. The songs fell into three groups:

(1) Beatles stuff, which was amazing and lit the crowd on fire
(2) Wings & solo stuff, warmly embraced
(3) The new stuff (including the now familiar but still absurd “Let Him In”), which nobody cared for

Linda was there, plus the former bassist from the Pretenders, which reminded me of that crusty old dean from a Simpsons episode. I remember that he dedicated “Fool on the Hill” to John Lennon, which I found a bit snotty.

But he’s a legend and it was a memorable show.

Have fun!

I’m sooo envious. Enjoy.

I was at that Berkeley show too. Funny thing, what I remember most about it is what happened before the show actually started. I had driven up early and found street parking in the neighborhood nearby. Right after I parked, the band started the soundcheck, which I could hear clear as a bell. So I kicked back on the hood of my brand-new 4Runner and enjoyed the pre-show music. When the soundcheck was over, I hopped off the truck to discover I put a butt-sized dimple in the sheet metal of the hood. It stayed there for the next ten years…a souvenir of my first McCartney concert.

I’ll be out there too, blondebear. Do you know of any opening acts?

No opening acts, just 3 hours of Sir Paul. Don’t forget to bring a jacket!

I’m jealous.

I passed when he was in Berkeley (was that really 24 years ago!?!) because my concert-buddy wasn’t interested. Probably my second-biggest ‘missed concert mistake’ (I told the same friend that I didn’t feel like seeing Stevie Ray Vaughan one summer, and that we could catch him the next time he came through town…).

I saw him 49 years ago when he was in his first band. He was good. Enjoy!

Hope it’s not too windy.

Wait, never mind; it won’t be.

The giant fans are gone, apparently.

Bring your parka. Gotta love The Stick!

kaylasdad99, report to the pillory to be pelted with organic produce.

Last concert, hmm… Macca goes meta on this one.

Farewell to the 'Stick!

I wonder if he’ll sing “When I Was 64”!

The concert at Berkeley was the first big concert I ever went to. Went with my best friend from high school, her brother and few other friends. Fond memories.

Of course, I also have fond memories of Candlestick…Suburban Plankton and I were engaged there during a Giants game.

I would love to have gone to this farewell concert.

“When I’m Sixty-Four” you mean?

Nope, that’s about life in the future, from when he was younger than 64. Now that he’s 72, Biffy’s version makes more sense. :stuck_out_tongue:

Missed the joke! Damn.

[Confused old man] Did you still need me? Did you still feed me? [/Confused old man]

Great grandchildren on your knee, Emma, Liam and Jacob.
