Check in please.
I’m okay- finished another house-sitting job yesterday and found a friend to stay with- the same place I stayed right after leaving my house, actually. She says I can stay as long as I like because I’m useful to have around (yay!). She has a guest room, even. I try my best, when I have a place, to cook and clean and do all the chores and such that I can, given that I can’t pay rent. And in this place, it’s nice because I actually already know what sorts of things she really hates doing but wants done.
I do have a job interview next week. And am still working on a car. This place is out in the country, so it’s seriously difficult to get around without one. But it’s nice and warm and comfortable here and I’m glad to have a place to stay.
Glad to hear things are (maybe, hopefully, knock-on-wood) looking up a bit!
Good luck on the job interview; hopefully if you get the job you’ll have the bootstraps to pull yourself up by.
Yay for a place to stay and a job interview. Best of luck. Thanks for keeping us up to date; we do worry about you. Will be sending good interview karma next week.
That’s really nice to hear, Dorothy. So glad things are looking better and you’ve a friend to share chores and a roof with.
Yaaaaaa!
Did you get a pay pal account set up?
That is some seriously good news! Sending out good thoughts for more good news to come!
I’m really happy to read your update, Dorothy. I hope things continue upwards for you. Hugs!
That is indeed good news. Good luck!
Oh, that is good news. Having a warm, safe place to stay is wonderful. I really hope the interview goes well for you and that you have a way to get a car. I know Salvation Army takes car donations, which they then resell to help people in their programs; maybe they’d be willing to sell one to you at a reduced cost? No idea how they handle that, but it might be worth it to ask.
Hooray for good news! Hooray for warm roof over your head!
Electric (and of course non-electric) bikes don’t require registration and insurance and even better, avoid the potential hassles of cars - expensive repairs, heavy loan payments, co-signers, potential for getting stranded even further from home and gas, etc. I know winter is coming and it could really suck, but if you can make it several months you could really get some money in the bank.
I’m hopeful for you and I think you’re really going to thrive and never be homeless again.
Yay! Good news rocks.
I hope the job comes through.

I’m so glad you have a warm place to stay. Good luck with the job interview as well.
Now keep in touch with us and those other contacts for help. Often different programs can help with different things. One where I live, refurbishes donated cars for those in need. Another program helps people with bills or finding housing when they get in a pinch, but doesn’t have anything to do with physical donations. Use these services to help get you back on your feet. They are there to help you.
Glad you’ve got somewhere to crash! Can you fib a little and tell your current job it’s your new address, so they schedule you some paid work in the meantime?
Excellent news.
Great news. Good luck in the interview. Please let us know when you set up a PayPal account.
Doesn’t even seem like much of a fib, to me. Your address = where you live. Where you live = where you sleep and keep your underwear. Sounds like Friend’s Home fits those parameters.
didn’t want to hijack the “boy, do I love eggs!” thread, so I’m responding here.
Things have been rough. It’s actually been a pretty awful day, which is part of why I’ve been scarce- didn’t really want to update again unless I had something more positive/hopeful to say than “boy I wish I had killed myself a year ago when I had it all planned out…” but I guess anything is better than silence.
No job. Still. And really, seriously not for lack of trying. Things are okay shelter-wise. Still living indoors, getting on well with the lady who is letting me stay (I have to come up with a more concise way of saying that) and, as far as I can tell, she’s still okay with having me around. I do my very best to keep it that way by doing everything I can around the house and try to act as more of a live-in maid than a moochy piece of shit. The boss at my regular job says she hired someone to replace me, so I’ll have to wait to be scheduled until they can fit me in. Fantastic. It’s whatever, though… I don’t care. I wanted a different job anyway.
As far as I’m concerned you’re welcome to vent here about your bad days. You are not obligated to give us only cheery news.
Yes, what Broomstick said. I look for updates from you to see that you’re still OK. Hang in there.
