Any guidance, information, experiences that could aid in my knowledge of the subject would be very appreciated!
I work in a warehouse right now and have talked too a few truck drivers and they all seem too speak highly of it.
It seems that it is something I can do for a few months, go back to school and always have it too fall back on. I like driving, and am good at it. And apparently I can write-off the schooling expenses because it is an educational thing.
So, any Doper-truckers out there that can lend me some advice or thoughts?
My husband went to trucking school last year. For 20 years he had been bouncing between jobs (everything from being a stock broker to an overnight stocker at Wal Mart), and had never been happy. He loves his job, and can’t imagine doing anything else. He’s Over The Road (Long Haul), so sometimes it gets lonely here without him. However, it’s a great way to see this wonderful nation and get paid for it.
I have my two days off work coming up tomorrow, I will definetly roam around the industrial area where I work and check out a few trucking schools.
I don’t want to get the huge training that will leave me broke, just the basic or a little more than basic type. Plus it is a job that one can fall back on.
