So I'm thinking of starting (an online, forum-based) game of AD&D. Anyone interested?

Gee, I hope the title fits.

Ahem. Anyway.

It would take place on a forum somewhere (probably Yahoo! groups), and players would be required to post once or twice a week.

I’ll freely admit that my motives are selfish. I need motivation to sit down and do some form of descriptive writing outside of classwork. Any practice is good practice, eh?

I’d like to have four or five players. More than that and things get messy.

I’d have no problem with the game being third edition, but I do not have the books, so I’d have to work with the open source stuff available online.

Anyone up for it?

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm…

my hunnybunny might…
I haven’t played D&D in years and a great big fiery pit to MY DUMBASS BROTHER for giving away… yesssssssssssssssssss, giving away all our first edition D&D gear (twas in fine condition). Hardcover books and everything… gone. GONE! Fire up the pit for me please, brother’s gonna sizzle tonight! GRRRR!!!

It depends on how you present it, I might also participate.

I need another game. I’d happily play, if it’s 3e.

I haven’t played for about three or four years, and am not familiar with 3rd edition rules. However, I would be happy to entertain the idea. Feel free to hit me up with an email with more info.

I’m interested.

I’ll play.

I’ve tried the same thing- running an online game through a forum- and it does work, if the DM and players make the effort. Mine stopped when I couldn’t get more 2nd edition players online.

I’ll play 3rd ed., but all I know is what I’ve read online and what’s in Neverwinter Nights.

SanguineSpider, I have sympathy for you. Luckily I’ve kept all my old first edition materials- books, modules, and accessories- but they are not in prime condition, due to the sheer amount of play they got. Coffee, soda, and other fluid stains (think beer and bongwater) are spread throughout the books, but I’ll keep 'em forever.

If you want to see my forum, which has 3 months of play, it’s here:

Here’s a good dice roller for online play.

My email is below; mail me when you are ready.

Ahem, I would love to be a part of your little troop as well.

I’m in.

I’d been interested in learning about D&D, but never had the chance to play it. That said, I know a bit from Torment and BG2: thac0, some skills, other concepts - but haven’t had any opportunity to apply that knowledge.

Also, most of the email groups I’ve been in are akin to “Player states intention, DM rolls the dice and says the outcome” in play. If you’re not against having a not completely-clueless newbie in your group, I’d like to try it.

Great!

For those of you who don’t have the books, the rules can be found here.

There are a few things that are important. You must be willing to be descriptive. A post consisting of “JoeCharacter swings his sword at FrankBadGuy” isn’t really going to cut it. To avoid overload, though, we’ll only be posting once or twice a week.

Those players interested should email me at johnny_diplomat@yahoo.com

I’m working on creating a yahoo group for the game, though it appears to be giving me a hard time at the moment. I’ll send invitations to the group as I recieve preliminary emails.

I’d be interested in trying it, if there is room. I’ve played (Basic, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd editions) for years, but not in an “online” format. I’m curious how it is done.

Let me know if there is space!
