So my mouth is shrinking...

Few days ago I got this ache in the back towards the back of my jaw… I switch between a standard retainer and the more aesthetic ‘fake tooth retainer’ (missing a front tooth) often so i get this and don’t think much of it. It persist and I’m bothered by it. Whenever I bite down it feels like one of my back molars is in trouble somehow but I try poking and wiggling every tooth and there’s no problem… Then yesterday I woke up feeling somewhat normal… some pain but whatever… then I went to try and get something to eat… I COULDN’T OPEN MY MOUTH. I could open it enough to talk without realizing there was a problem, but I physically couldn’t force my jaws wide enough apart to fit food in except for chips and other squishable foods… I had to manually pry my jaws open (with much pain) for each bite at each meal yesterday and today. So this is quite odd, and I’m waiting for tests to let up so i can go to the dentist or something about it… but then part 2.

I wake up this morning…pain again but whatever… then I try to open my mouth to talk and feel excruciating pain from the corners of my mouth. The kind I would expect from chapped lips or something, except my lips were plenty moist… just that if I tried to open my mouth more than was passable to breath, I felt like I was going to rip my cheeks open. I dunked my head in water for a little bit… put all kinds of lip-balms and whatnot on it, and they last maybe 30 seconds. This is especially a problem because i have some kind of chronically gunked-up nose through which I can breathe minimally at best.

So what the fuck? Not only can I not mechanically open my jaw enough to eat, I can’t even open my lips to speak! (My roommate may find this a blessing) I feel like I’m in the interrogation scene from the matrix…but in really slow motion. At this rate I may have to start breathing through a coffee-stirrer.

My only hypothesis besides evil matrix agents is that perhaps my wisdom tooth is coming in. For whatever reason I only have one, and the dentists always told me it wouldn’t cause any problems… now i’m not so sure.

Anyway nothing to this post, being mundane and pointless and whatnot, just had to share it.

I 2nd Lucretia’s statement. Have it checked out by a doctor ASAP. IANAD, but this is very serious.
