So my sister has breast cancer and I'm a little freaked

Oh no!!! I hope you were able to figure something out!!!

Nope, haven’t figured out anything quite yet. Her surgeon’s office is going to call her tomorrow to re-schedule. Meantime, I’ve been “pulling in” all the contacts I’ve made in this tiny town so I can have someone look at my car and hopefully figure out how to fix it for not too much money. A couple of people have opined that it’s the fuel pump.

Well, she’s in pretty good hands (where’s Allstate when you need 'em? :stuck_out_tongue: ) except when I’m having my own melt-downs. . .

Still, we’ll get through this, one day at a time. I have a special prayer I use for times like this; it’s short, and I’ve memorized it, and even read it to her once. Last night when I was freaking out, she even started it for me; “O God, refresh and gladden my spirit. . .” and I took it from there. Sometimes I have to say that prayer five or six times in a row before it sinks in, but it always does. It’s one of my favorites.

We just celebrated my wife’s first year of being cancer free. Just over a year ago, the doctor told us she would be lucky to make it to February. She was lucky apparently. It was such a scary thing. It was like I was lost and didn’t know where to turn. She was such a trooper. I was supposed to be her suppport. For the most part it was the other way around. But it has turned out OK. It’s still day-to-day. But it’s a heck of a lot better than the alternative.

You have my support.

All my best wishes for an end to your car troubles and your sister’s cancer. My stepmother had breast cancer several years ago, but she kicked it and has been cancer-free ever since.
