I was just told by some shirt tail relation of my wife that they are so far behind in delivering LP because their new driver hasn’t been able to drive because his hazmat background check hasn’t come back yet. It’ll be around 90 days. 90 DAYS???
Wow. US bureocracy at its finest.
Could this possibly be true?
Could the officials in charge of background checks be that clueless as to the needs of small buisness?
This sounds reasonable to me. Hazmat includes, among other things, radioactive, biohazardous, spontaneously combustible, poisonous, and explosive materials.
This must apply only to new CDL applicants, as I’ve had a CDL with tanker and HazMat endorsements for 20+ years and never had a background check. I must retake the HazMat test every four years when my license is up for renewal, but that’s a 15 minute deal at a touch-screen monitor in the DMV office, not a 90 day wait.
Actually the owner of the buisness told me that next time he renews his license they will do a check on him.
He’s been in buisness for at least 30 years.
I’d be checking if I were you.
I still have the CDL with tanker endorsement but I let the hazmat go.
