One of my contacts started bugging me tonight, so when I took it out, I found it’s not only half of one – the other half, I presume, may still be in my eye. Should I be worried about this? If it’s still in there, how can I get it out?
Darn typos. “Not” should be "now. So it should ready “I found it’s now only half of one”
Found it! At least, I hope that’s all that’s left in there!
I’ve had contacts slip around to the back side of my eyeball before. Hard contacts, even. Couldn’t even tell it was there until it abruptly slid across my cornea again. Ow.
Anyway, yes, it’s bad. If I was you, I’d try flushing my eye with water for a bit. If that didn’t work, I’d try sleeping and see if the REM brought it to the front. If no progress by morning, I’d call the eye doc.
But, that’s just what I, with no medical expertise at all, would do.
Woot!
I’m pretty sure I’ve had a whole contact inside my eye socket for a few years now. At least, I don’t remember it ever coming back out.
Hmm, I just tore a contact an hour before you posted this. I had to toss them 10 days early, grumble grumble.
I assume it was a soft contact, because if it was an RGP you’d feel it. Part of the reason why I quit wearing those is because occasionally my eye would get irritated after a long day, and the contact would be stuck in there. My cornea would be too swollen to pick up the contact, and I wouldn’t be able to get the contact out because you can’t pinch those, so I would have to wait with a bloodshot eye for the swelling to go down.
Glad to hear you fixed it quickly!
Here’s my own experience: Ow! My eyeball!
Well, thanks for the help anyway guys! It’ll be helpful in the event I do it again – which I hope I won’t. Sadly, that was my last pair of contacts
On the plus side, I was wearing those 2-week disposables for going on 6-months (I know, I know), so it’s probably a good thing it happened. Now I’ll have to get new ones.
