So Trump won and some Clinton supporters seem to be having a hard time accepting that

Protests always look futile … until one day you look around and notice that the things the protestors have been demanding are suddenly in the mainstream. Do you think the first tiny anti-Vietnam protest had any hope of stopping the US military war machine? Pitiful.

There’s a distinction that’s being lost between the hypothetical Trump-supporter protests, and the actual Clinton-supporter protests: Trump was planning on protesting the election results; the current protests are protesting the election implications.

Trump was saying that the election results were invalid because the election was rigged, and his people were going to take to the streets.

Nobody is saying that Trump was not elected fair and square. They’re just horrified by what that means, and are saying: we will not allow the oppression and harassment of women, minorities and immigrants to stand.

Any idea how many death threats a President, or even a major-party Presidential candidate, gets? I don’t think they by themselves qualify as evidence of a meaningful level of anti-(insert party) intolerance and hatred.

And besides a couple of those from people we’ve never heard of, you’ve got a link to Breitbart, a hate site which I will never in this life dignify with a click.

IOW, you don’t have jack shit.

What distinguished the repeated threats to Hillary’s safety was that they were out in plain sight, and never, AFAICT, did Trump or any of his closest surrogates say, “hey, that’s out of line.” And of course, they were actively encouraging the “Lock her up!” chants. Right at the Republican Fucking Convention.

When you find something equivalent on the Dem side, be sure to let us know.

I guess I should just go “I acceeeeeept!” like the comedian doing his Kubler-Ross routine in* All That Jazz*. Just to keep you happy.

Assuming there’s no merit to the hacking claim (and it looks highly suspect), I would agree. “Angry” does not have to equal “stupid”. Hope he enjoys his chat with the SS.

Well, some of them want the Electoral College to elect Clinton based on the fact that she won the popular vote (which I think sets an extremely dangerous precedent). Some of them are making a visible statement that Trump’s “victory” does not constitute a mandate or represent the views of all Americans. Some of them are attempting to influence their own representatives by indicating that they expect them to challenge Trump’s policies. And a lot of them are angry and upset and want to rant about it in public.

And some people just like any excuse to break shit, no matter what the occasion. Political protests, sports team victories, pumpkin festivals- the assholes you shall always have with you.

Not that ambiguous, but that wasn’t what I meant. I mean the people clearly and openly talking about armed insurrection. The “left” wasn’t making them do that.

Unless of course we also consider the people who are now openly harassing (and occasionally assaulting) minorities and women and vandalizing property and planning KKK rallies in North Carolina “because their guy won”. I think we can say something about that.

The Secret Service doesn’t release numbers

Politifact article on Obama being the most threatened President ever. (False)

I note that not one poster in this thread has mentioned that this is the second time in recent memory that we’ve had the popular vote and the Electoral vote part company.

I know about the electoral system and all that and when this sort of thing goes against you once you can dismiss it, but a second time really sticks in the craw. Mark my words, it happens a third time and you will see a revolution.

I do want you to sound like you are lecturing them about consent.

This discussion has been had too many times. So many times, people like HurricaneDitka don’t have a leg to stand on anymore. When they continue to fall back on the idea that consent is just any act of saying “okay,” after this has been explained time and time again, they show, by their actions, by their behavior, that they simply do not give a shit about consent.

There’s no working with these people. They are the enemy. We fucking quash them, is what we do.

That didn’t really go your way a week ago, did it?

I doubt it, but I like being pleasantly surprised from time to time. Do you think we’d still have a “revolution” if the EC-popular vote split went the Dems way the next time?

Didn’t know who you were then, we thought you were Americans.

“The electoral college is a disaster for a democracy.”

Guess who?

Given the date, and who’s posting it, I’d guess Trump.

There were 60 million of us that got the result we sought last week. I’m pretty certain we are Americans too.

No, of course not, its some lefty hypocrite who changes his mind depending on whether or not he benefits!

Laci Green (that brat from YouTube) perhaps?

Nah, just kidding, it was Il Douche.

I will not speak respectfully to a person who has shown by his/her behavior that they have no respect for consent.

So I will not speak to you at all.

That’s fine. I hope you can find some “space” surrounded by safety pins to hide in for the next 4-8 years.

Just an update on the window-licking retard that threatened to buy a sniper rifle and kill the President-Elect: He has resigned.

You’re objecting to a 2nd Amendment solution?

I guess the Tree of Liberty will have to stay thirsty, my friends.
