So, we should get used to saying "President Christie?" Yea or nay?

Please say you’re kidding.

Words fail me. Trump only “ran” to market himself and his brand. How many times has he gone bankrupt? I bet even a superficial glance into his business history would wipe him out.

Calling him a clown insults the clowns.

And have a massive rebellion by the well financed and well organized loons. If Boehner can’t control them in Congress where he has some clout, how is the establishment going to control them in the hinterland?

I’d love to see what you suggest happen, but it won’t.

It’s also irrelevant how he polls against Clinton, because she’s not going to be running.

This. Christie has a big mouth. There is no way he is going to make it through a campaign without putting his foot in it. Lots of stuff which plays in NJ won’t play in Peoria.

In any case, the video of him and Obama would seal his fate.
My son-in-law went to law school in NJ, and Christie spoke at the school. He got booed, not on general principles but because he was saying stuff that was obviously wrong.

Keep asking questions like that, no one is going to take YOU seriously;.

I think she can learn - and she’d have the Obama machine behind her.
She is also very different from the person who thought she was owed the nomination in 2008. Four years as a good Secretary of State has wiped out her drama queen reputation. My wife hated her in 2008 - now she’d be happy to vote for her.

Okay you win and yes Elvis I was just kidding, but I still think it will take a redneck to beat Hillary (if she runs that is)(or wins the nomination I should say)

It is child abuse and it should be banned, and I hope it will be banned nationwide as soon as possible. Being forced by religious zealots into denying one’s inborn sexual orientation is absolutely psychological abuse. I would ban it and arrest any doctor who practices it and throw them in jail for a decade.

But until gays are seen as people and not as political pawns, this will continue to go on. But being gay is as natural as being black, or tall, or having blue eyes. It is an immutable trait that needs not only to be tolerated, but accepted

I personally do not believe that people are born gay. I believe that it is more likely to have something to do with childhood experience, although I can’t quite put my finger on what those experiences may be. For all we know, different gay people could have had different experiences that led to their sexuality. The fact that offspring cannot come from a gay couple is proof enough for me that homosexuality is not a natural part of human existence. Further proof is the fact that homosexual behavior can cause sickness (AIDS).
Just so I can make something clear before I wrap up this post: People like me, although we condemn homosexuality, are not hate-mongers; we don’t like being lumped with the Westboro Baptist Church, Faithful Word Baptist Church and other groups of that ilk. We believe that homosexuals are people, and we treat them as such, but that doesn’t mean we approve of their behavior.

Offspring can’t come from an elderly couple, either, but living past menopause is still natural for humans.

Clinton is already pretty well vetted on the national stage. Any attacks against her have already been made. All people know about Christie on the other hand is that he as seen as a rising star among the Republicans, he acted in a bi-partisan manner during Sandy, and he has a weight problem. As voter actually start to learn about a candidate it usually brings their poll numbers down (which is why generic Democrat and generic Republican tend to poll well). So the fact that Clinton is still within 1 point of Christie bodes well for her in a head to head no holds barred campaign.

PS: can we please discuss Gay conversion therapy somewhere else?

Sorry about that; common topic drift.
Anyway, let’s not forget about Obama’s influence on the future election - the democratic candidate could win or lose depending in part on Obama’s approval rating as he leaves office. If Obama leaves the white house shamed because of failure, his whole party could be shamed and their candidate could lose; or, if he leaves office with a good** approval rating, then it might be a safe bet to say Hillary (or whoever) would win in a landslide.

A qualified Yea.

(IMHO) It is true that he will have difficulty in the primaries. But the GOP needs to realize that a far right loon doesn’t have a prayer. A GOP governor who can distance himself from that…and even take a few shots at that, CAN win the general election. Loud and abrasive can be seen as strength and conviction.

Regardless, Christie v. Clinton would be a fun campaign.

I think they have at least another cycle before that happens, and probably 2 (simply because they really need to lose another presidential for it to actually hit home). I’m an optimist, though…I hold out hope that they’ll continue to mill around like lost sheep for another decade or two…

His advantage in Iowa is that he’s of a normal weight there. People often prefer to vote for people like themselves and Ted Cruz and Rand Paul are too scrawny. They’ll need to bulk up on some good Iowa cuisine to have a chance. OTOH, Christie fits right in, as much as he fits into anything.

I sure hope not. I can’t stand the guy.

John McCain and Mitt Romney did** distance themselves from that; they were not “far right loons;” they were moderate/liberal-republicans, and they both lost rather squarely.
When people say “far-right loon,” I assume they are referring to devout conservatives who stick to what they believe and don’t lend themselves to moderatism or liberalism in order to get votes.
About 2 or 3 million people who would have voted for Mitt Romney decided to sit out the election and not vote in 2012. The reason they gave wasn’t that he was too** conservative, it was that he wasn’t conservative enough**.
Some say that the far-right is sinking the GOP, and that the middle-right is the party’s only hope; however, I believe it might be the other way around.

There you go, that’s your problem. That is why you and I will never see this issue the same way and you will remain wrong until you either change your mind or someday, die.

You do realize that those far-right loons who currently make up the Tea Party (which is in control of the GOP) aren’t conservatives at all. They’re reactionary right-wing radicals. They hold no actual conservative values.
