So, what do you drink?

I’m looking to quit drinking so much soda. Currently, I drink some water and lots of Powerade, because I need to stay hydrated, it apparently helps my uber-dry skin or something.

And I know Powerade has tons of calories, which is why I opened this thread. I’d like to get something I can drink like water…but I just can’t drink water all the time, I’ve tried, I just wind up drinking soda. I need some kinda variety.

So…not too many calories and not too much caffiene, I get plenty of that.

I drink a ton of milk but some unlucky folks are lactose-intolerant. I have stopped the soda habit, as well, and I drink unsweetened or lightly sweetened tea. Water… ugh. It HAS to be ice cold or it makes my stomach hurt and trying to drink my 6-8 glasses a day is torture for me. Due to my carb restrictions though, I can drink milk at one meal a day only so it’s mainly water and tea during the day sigh. I can’t drink fruit juices, Gatoraid or the like until my reward meal but then I end up greedily sucking down the milk like there’s a cow shortage.

I feel for you, man. I HATE water. :frowning:

Green tea is an option, if you like it. Maybe lemonade as well?

Lately, I’ve been drinking a lot of Kool-Aid made with Splenda instead of sugar, as well as some Crystal Light.

Or you could make some non-caffeinated herbal iced tea.

A couple years ago I started drinking sparkling water. It took some getting used to, but now I love it.

I cut it with about 20-25% still (non-bubbly) water to save money. Some people like to mix in fruit juice.

I love green tea too. Also grapefruit juice.

Some good ideas here. Milk’s a no-go for me. Mixing it into stuff, I’m usually fine, but drinking a glass gives me stomach problems for days.

Kool Aid with Splenda is one I’ll hafta look into.

Good Earth iced green tea. I put four bags in a sun tea jug, let it brew until the afternoon, and then guzzle the stuff all day.

Have you tried lemon water? Just put a slice or two of lemon into your water. It really does make a difference on taste, and very few calories.

Splenda, young man, Splenda. I hate water (and soda water, selzer, etc.) and I am trying to cut back on caffeine and the dyes in diet cola. Milk is caloric and fruit juice gves me heartburn.

I am hooked on “Sparkling Water Beverage” from Price Chopper. It comes in fruit flavors and is sweetened with Splenda which doesn’t have the aftertaste of Nutrasweet. Walmart (America’s Choice) makes something similar but theirs is Nutrasweetened so beware.

PC has moved the display a few times and when I don’t see this water beverage in its usual place, eep! Luckily they are still making it; you should be able to find something similar at other supermarket chains.

Miller Lite

I’ve recently kicked the soda habit. First, I switched to Gatorade, but now I’ve even cut that out.

Since our local tap water tastes terrible, I buy spring water by the gallon and keep it in the fridge here at work. I even use it to fill the ice trays. Then I sip from a 48 oz cup all day long.

When I run out of that, I’ve got a water pitcher with a filter in the lid. I fill it from the water fountain and also keep it in the fridge.

I quit colas a couple of years ago, but I still drink ginger ale and things like Stewart’s key lime soda as a treat. But what I drink most of is water. Our local water tastes vile also, so we buy cases of generic spring water for carrying about or drink filtered water from our Brita. We even bought a fridge that has a filter in line with the dispenser on the door.
I also like Diet Ice Botanicals. They’re sweetewned w/ splenda and come as kiwi-strawberry, key lime (my favorite), cranberry-raspberry, or passion peach.
When I go to Winco, I buy a similar product called Cascade somethingorother.

I also like Fat Tire Ale.

I would rarely have any type of soft drink but occasionally have a lemon. Mostly I drink water, various teas and cranberry or lime juice.

Unfortunately alcohol is off the list for me these days.

I really like Sobe’s Liz Bliz. Not to syrupy, and sorta tastes like a Pina Colada. Their “energy” drink is pretty good, too…

Normally, milk, though at the moment I’m drinking white port. It’s the only way I can stand this board.

“fitness water” (forget the brand name) - It comes in berry and lemon flavors, IIRC. No calories and tastes good. Crystal Light is an expensive but tasty no-calorie Kool-Aid.

Of course, it’s more economical to get used to drinking water. Try ice water with every meal. I did this for about a year and now I just grab water without thinking about it.

Celestial Seasonings teas are wonderful iced and unsweetened. The boxes run around $3.50 for 20 tea bags but it is cheaper than me buying a Snapple every day (which I used to. Mango Madness, mmmmmmmm!)

Nothing can beat some cold green tea with just a little bit of sugar.

I’ve started drinking more water.

I’ve developed a taste for diet pop after my dad was diagnosed as diabetic. When I want something different, I’ll drink diet pop. About two or three cans a week (so not much) - and when I go out (too easy to slurp down three big Cokes over a long dinner.)

Good Earth Original Tea is good iced (as well as hot). Its sweet, but requires no sugar to get it sweet. Comes decaf.

Lemon in water is good. For variety, try adding lime slices, orange slices or grapefruit slices instead of lemon. And tap water is often inconsistant. I drink Dasani out of a bottle (cause its filtered) but a Brita filter will work too.

By the way, if you like soda, and like sugared soda, but just want to cut down, buy some fizzy water. Start mixing the soda 3:1 with the water. Move to 2:1. Half the calories and caffeine - go gradually and it will taste nearly the same. Works with diet pop as well…I have a whole group of friends who order “Diet coke, 3/4 full, fill the rest of the glass with the Real Stuff”

Propel. It’s pretty decent. I don’t like to drink plain water myself unless I’m really thirsty.

I drink mostly diet Mountain Dew, diet Snapple, and iced tea. And I second the Crystal Light recommendations. Pricey, but good.
