So what IS the deal with colored toilet paper?

I like to scent my own toilet paper, and I prefer to color it with earth-tones… It’s just more natural!

We are? What about, oh, BATHING?

Besides, I’ve heard that they can be irritating…and there is no way I want to be irritated anywhere near that region of my body, be the offending agent TP or tampons. Eek.

Little kids and people with pica probably eat some of the little squares of (unused) toilet paper while sitting on the john. Maybe they’re worried that toxic dyes could get into people that way.

Believe it or not many homes feature bathrooms no one uses, living rooms no one is allowed to live in and other areas for holiday use or company use or for show only.

Nobody’s worried that the toxic dyes will get into their bodies. As posters above has pointed out:

  1. Extra chemicals can irritate some peoples’ sensitive areas

  2. The dyeing process releases chemicals into the environment.
I use Seventh Generation TP–by far the best and cheapest recycled stuff I can find. It’s white, but not snowy white. The wrapper is printed with various statistics on how many trees we could save if we all replaced one roll of regular TP with recycled. I’m not sure I buy their conclusions, but it certainly makes me think.

If a small change is made by many people, it adds up to a big change. Buying un-dyed TP is a small change that doesn’t require great sacrifice. If everybody stopped buying dyed TP, think of the chemicals that would not have to be used…

And I never heard the term “bog roll” before!

**

It’s slightly vulgar English slang. Bog means Toilet.

Yes, there is something that smells like deoderant tampons. The Raid in the blue can (the flying insect killer) smells exactly like Playtex deoderant tampons. Exactly.

Do with that what you will.
