So - what is this poem (and related cake)

Hey, I got two CS categories in one post, right?

Anyway: yesterday I was at a nearby cake shop. They do the fancy wedding cakes etc., and had a number of them on display - and they also do novelty sculptured cakes like you see on Cake Boss and the like.

One cake on display was Audrey 2 from Little Shop Of Horrors.

Another was:

  • A huge world globe (roughly basketball-sized), topped with
  • a full-sized pie (presumably a pie-shaped cake), topped with
  • Palm-tree trunks, each topped with
  • various breads and wedges of cheese

The pie itself also had a strawberry (also molded of something, not a real strawberry) sitting on top.

The globe was sitting on a pool of “ink” and a sculpted ink bottle was pouring its contents onto the puddle.

I asked the clerk what the cake represented and she said it was some kind of poem, but she didn’t remember what the poem was.

Anyone recognize this?

This one, I should guess:

If All the World Were Paper

Wow. That’s impressive.

Bingo, Balance - that’s got to be it.

The cake was pretty impressive. I don’t know if it was there waiting to be picked up by a customer, or if they’d done it to show off what they could do.

I wonder if anyone submitted it to Cake Wrecks for their Sunday Sweets? If it was as impressive as it sounds, it’d be nice to have a picture of it posted, and the deliberately absurd poem seems like it would be up their alley.

If I’m in there again some time (and now that I know how close the place is to me; their other location is a hassle to get to, this will happen more often) I’ll suggest it.

Interestingly, there’s a sign on the door saying their 2 people won Cake Wars a couple months ago - but all the publicity for the two mentions a bakery in the New York metro area (we are south of Washington DC) - so I don’t know what that’s about.
