I saw this reddit post and it made me think of you saltine seekers:
Echoes of the Soviet Era.
Apparently the Gatorade truck doesn’t stop at my local Wal-Mart anymore. They’re just out all flavors, all varieties.
Not that anyone cares after so long :), but I found an even better way to get my potstickers: Amazon Fresh. Got them same-day, at a much better per-box price.
Mom reports that certain brands of bottled water are still out of stock, as are various types of microwavable rice packs. She’s also having trouble finding Italian roast whole bean coffee. The cracker aisle was sparse as well.
Here’s an odd one: Morton Kosher Salt in the blue box. Two stores had their pickling salt and ice cream salt, but no standard Kosher salt.
I haven’t seen Rubbermaid plastic containers in months. I’m not talking about the thin disposable ones, but the regular ones with the red plastic lids. That might be Rubbermaid’s doing, though. Maybe they want to only sell disposable ones now because those are more profitable.
This might not count, as it’s workplace related, but the month of June was a comedy of errors trying to get and keep 20 ounce hot cups for the coffee shop. : ) Nobody(including actual Starbucks outposts)could get them in, and we tried some unbranded cups in desperation. All of the cups leaked out the bottom! Then we got the last box available at the local restaurant supply store. These worked great but now the hot cup sleeves didn’t fit, prompting me to think of “Fat Bottomed Girls”,for about a week .
Right before the holiday weekend, 3 boxes of the apropos store cups came in. Sheesh.
We’ve had a hard time ordering laser printers for my workplace. Things have been on order six months or more and we’re still waiting.
We just ordered some equipment that won’t be here until June of 2023.
Yep, those. I got two from Amazon after searching fruitlessly for them at Target, Walmart, and various grocery stores. It used to be you could find them on shelves everywhere.
I’ll wander around Target or whatever if I’m not sure exactly what I want like when I recently replaced my frying pan. If I know precisely what I need, it’s straight to Amazon which saves time and hassle.
I haven’t seen Planter’s Flamin’ Hot peanuts in quite some time.
These?
I got the brand wrong. It’s these. https://www.fritolay.com/products/munchies-flamin-hot-peanuts
I haven’t looked online. It’s the kind of thing I would grab as a treat at checkout. The honey roasted version is usually there, but not the spicy.
Oranges are in short supply here. The last store had only $1.99/lb heirloom navel oranges, each one about 1.25 lbs. No other oranges, except minuscule mandarins about half the size of normal Cuties.
Might be the time of year, since they’re not currently in season.
Here ya go. You were probably paying more than $0.44 per pack before.
Given that I can order them now and be eating them tomorrow, it’s probably not a shortage but your store decided not to carry them for a different reason.
Australia has entered its winter and we have a bad flu season underway, as well as omicron spreading quikly despite a high vaccination level.
The main supermarket chains have placed restrictions on tissues due to demand -
We’ve also had shortages of some fresh fruit and ridiculously high prices as a result, but that has been due to bad weather and flooding - Why is there a lettuce shortage? Australians warned prices won't come down any time soon - ABC News
I went to have my car serviced this week and noticed there was only one car in the showroom. Their most expensive SUV. Looked like very few new cars in the lot. Also at work we were told our replacement vehicle order will be delayed for several months at least.
