So? What'd ya get?

This thread will be for:
1)People who got gifts they really want to brag about.
2)People who got crap they want to rant about.
3)People who got nothin’ and want to feed their feelings of abandonment by seeing what everyone else got.

I got The Complete Fairy Tales of The Brothers Grimm from a friend, two little porcelain masks from my seven-year-old cousin, a nice picture frame from my mom, a bookstore gift certificate from my younger brother, the traditional Christmas card/personal check combo from Grandma, and from the hoosband, I received an Austin Powers T-shirt, a really cool candle-in-a-pretty-wine-glass thing, HoTMetaL Pro software and a handblender/chopper thingamajig.

We videotaped Bowen opening his presents, as this is the first year he’s been able to kind of understand what’s going on. He loved all of his gifts, but his favorites were (of course) the inexpensive Teletubbies book and the even more inexpensive little cars as opposed to the rather pricey items. At least this year he’s big enough to find the toys more interesting than the wrapping paper.

I didn’t get anything worth bragging (or ranting) about… but i got exactly what i wanted and needed.

A nice comfy robe
My zen rock garden
Some books and DVD’s and CD’s
New clothes
New cologne

All enjoyable gifts.

Everybody got their Black and Decker… Blood and Fettuccini everywhere

I got a scanner, so now I have to follow the ritual of New Scanner Ownership and build my cat a website. Also some nice RAM, some software (got a new computer, so everybody’s giving me computer stuff. I am pleased  )

Catrandom

I got some good stuff this year:

an iBook
a scanner
a new coffeemaker
all sorts of girly bubble bath things

So, I’m pretty happy. I also got a bracelet from my aunt, who gets me jewelry for every gift-giving occasion even though I don’t wear any - and she has hideous taste.

I got Undercover Blues! Also, Perfect Murder Perfect Town, which I haven’t started reading, so I don’t know yet if it’s on the “good gift” list. Also got some CDs and books that I had requested and some other books I hadn’t, but that look interesting. And a dragon.

Gifts I could have done without:
-EXCUSE ME? Sister #2? There is a wide range of tastes and interests between your younger sisters, you DO NOT have to get us all nearly identical gifts every year. Or, at least don’t be so obvious about it as to wrap them all in the same number of identical-size boxes and gift bags, except for Sister #5’s and then explain that she has more boxes because you ran out of the larger size box. I’d rather you give me fewer and/or less expensive gifts and actually look for "something for Kat rather than look for “things for your sisters”.

Yay! Chris has an HTML program! That’ll help you out a lot!

I am one of those who didn’t get anything for Christmas.

But do not weep for me, mortals, as there are apparently things still to come yet!

And anyway, it’s just like my birthday turned out to be so I’m very familiar with sitautions like this.

-PIGEONMAN-
Hero For A New Millennium!

The Legend Of PigeonMan - Back in the new year! Honest. I promise. No, really.

I got a lint brush!

I got a lint brush!

I got a copy of The Philadelphia Story and the Wallace and Grommit trilogy. Also got my own personal paper shredder. Hubby, baby, and I had a great time shredding all the used Christmas wrap after all was done.

A hi res scanner - 1200 X 2400 DPI

A bathrobe (my wife was really tired of my old “raggedy assed” one for some reason)

All issues of the National Geographic published from 1888 to 1989, on 39 CDs.

A set of 25 Sears Craftsman screwdrivers. I have bought or been given 187 screwdrivers in my life.
Before I got this set,I had 23 left. In wonder what happens to them?

I didn’t get nothing; I had to pay fifty dollars and pick up the garbage in the snow.

Twenty bucks in gift certificates to the best Italian Deli in the universe and 4 bottles of wine. New Year’s may not be a washout after all.

I got everything I asked for except for my sign language interpreter who was kept hostage by that stupid Brit who came here to marry her from England, and refuses to be left alone on that day! What a baby.

I got a CD player for my car which doesn’t work. It’s portable and plugs into the cigarette lighter, and it allegedly broadcasts a radio signal to the radio, which is to be tuned to a neutral FM station. It’s very Rube Goldberg and I haven’t been able to make this happen despite diligent attentio to the directions. The portable itself is no great shakes, as I tried them with headphones and they are barely audible. Feh!

Socks & shirts & those luxe “t-shirt” bedsheets. A clock radio. Some gift cert’s to Barney Noble’s and Sam Goody’s.

That’s about it I guess. Some $

(And props for the “Alice’s Restaurant” reset. heh “And they all moved away from me on the bench …”)

“If you go for a walk in the park and it’s a beautiful sunny day but four guys jump out of a bush and beat you to the ground and take your money, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t go in the park. It means you got robbed.”

I got a Sony Mavica camera and bag, which I really wanted. I also got:
A warm fuzzy fleecy shirt
new sweat pants and sweat shirt
Star Wars Monopoly CD ROM game
Scrabble
a Shar-pei calander
a cracked glass bowl from Crate&Barrel

My husband and I also got matching biker shirts- his says “If you can read this the bitch fell off” on the back…mine says “I’m the bitch that fell off”

Nice Christmas, but I’m glad it’s over…

I love all my presents…
a friend built an art easel for me and a box to heighten my monitor.(designed for short people),
a set of stationary cards with famous paintings.
woohooo an electric toothbrush so I can get my mirror all splattered.(I just love being messy)
a Mickey Mouse pen
Some wonderful art books from Amsterdam
a banana ::blushes::
some rocks for my garden from various cities in the world collected by my sweetie.
and prolly the one I love most right now is the “Fuck you fund” my daughter set up in my savings account. Now if my boss gives me shit anytime, I can just say Fuck you and quit.
Thanks for everything to the wonderful people in my life!

I really try to be good but it just isn’t in my nature!

My mom sent me “Life Begins for Andy Hardy” on VHS. I’m a big Andy-Hardy fan. Now my collection is complete, at least until they start issuing some of the other movies on tape.

P.S.: Now to start collecting all those Frankie/Annette beach movies!

Well, let me see. I usually get piles of stuff from my dad, but this year I didn’t. Good reason, though. As a Christmas present, he’s selling me his van for $500, and he’s taking payments of $50 a month. Yes, that’s a gift, because it’s a huge conversion van that he could get two grand for (it’s an '86 Ford Econoline), but he’s selling it to me for the cost of the work he put into it last year. New tires, new exhaust, and a few other things that I don’t remember. And my Christmas gift to my husband? Same van. I bought it for him. He is one happy dude. I got him a new winter coat, too.

Husband got me a Dilbert book, a Smashmouth CD, and a whole pound of Fanny Farmer milk chocolate buttercreams. Yay! And he’s going to clean my car. Clean it. He’s pretty well trashed it, so he’s going to clean it. He doesn’t seem to think that’s much of a gift to me, but it’s in such bad shape, he doesn’t quite realize just how much joy a clean car will bring me.

My children got many, many gifts, too numerous to mention. I didn’t get them all that much. The grandparents, on the other hand, well, let’s just say they did a fine job. A couple of standouts: the MagnaDoodle from Santa, and the tackle box packed to the top with crayons & other art implements, from my oldest daughter Kiersti to her little sister Diana. It’s amazing.

I got all sorts of things I like. This was probably my best year ever for getting presents that I like. I got:
Civilization: Call To Power and Simcity 3000 for my computer.
S&M (Metallica), Human Clay (Creed) and a live U2 CD for me to listen to.
House Atriedes (the new Dune book), Asimov’s Guide to the Bible and Destiny Road (Larry Niven) hardcovers. They will look very nice on my bookshelf after I read them. I also got a couple of paperback books that I’m bringing back to college to read.
Doc Hollywood and Stargate DVDs to watch at college.
My girlfriend gave me movie passes(to bring her with me) and cookies(delicious).
And last, but not least, my friend got me a Year 2000 Powerpuff Girls calander. It will be proudly hung in my dorm room. Probably to the dismay of my roommate who thinks I’m weird anyway.

I got a bunch of really great stuff, but the best thing was being able to spend Christmas with my family again. This is the first time in 7 years, as I had been in the Army up until january of this year. Well, that and not having to send all their gifts out this year

Merry Christmas everyone!
