If you haven’t viewed the Pit or ATMB in a few weeks you may not know that there has been some changes which didn’t sit well with some mods or members. If you have an opinion on this please do not bring it to this thread.
My request is for some information concerning the result of the Brewha. One mod Giraffe is hosting a message board and one board called DoMeBo was created.
Now I’m a Doper and plan to stay that way but I’ve had little participated in any other message board with the exception of a few small interest boards.
I have no idea what the name of Giraffe’s board is. I’d like to know.
So I’m interested in seeing what’s out there.
Here are my questions:
1 - What other boards do you visit?
2- Why? (Again - please take any SDMB backlash/sarcasm to another forum - just leave blank if you can’t play nice)
3 - What is the name of Giraffe’s board
I’d like to know. Including specialty boards like hobby interest boards or music boards. If you frequent a “Fender Guitar Lover’s” board or a TV program board I want to hear about it.
I visited DoMeBo and giraffeboards, but didn’t sign up.
I went to DoMeBo because I got an invitation from CSRP and I like him; I went to giraffeboards because I like Giraffe. I didn’t sign up for DoMeBo because I didn’t like the overall tone; most of the people there seemed to be pretty bitter. I was tempted; there are a lot of people there I like. I might still sign up for GB; we’ll see. I joined teemings way back when but hardly ever logged in.
I have a gaming board I post on although mainly in the Out of Topic style forums. I’ve been posting there since 2000 and here since 1999. Interesting to think that two boards have primarily served my posting needs for the past decade.
On the non-Dope related boards front, I used to be a regular contributor and subject-matter expert on The Oakley Review, a site/board for Oakley fans and collectors. I very rarely visit anymore, though.
I have signed up at domebo but can’t post much there for now due to circumstances beyond my control. I plan to sign up for GB when I get the chance. When I get home I plan on posting there and I have no idea how much I’ll still post here.
The only other forum I have ever signed up for is at wheresgeorge.com. I haven’t checked it out for a while. Not a lot of action there. Never saw the need to go to any of their non-money related forums.
I don’t know if you’d consider it a ‘board’ or not, but I’m a member of Fark. I started posting there through an invitation from my brother. Pros: moves faster than a regular BB, many many funny links posted. Cons: snarky posts. Tons and tons of them. I’m a regular poster over there.
I joined teemings.org at its inception, but as it’s kind of an ‘emergency’ board, there’s not much to say about it.
I’m a member of an engineering board, Engineering Tips. That’s a good place for helping one another with questions relating to the engineering profession. That board moves really really slowly, but that’s to be expected. It’s nice to talk to people who ‘speak my language’.
I signed up at Fathom but I’ve rarely posted. I think my post count is in the double digits. It just doesn’t keep my interests. It’s also purple, which gets old. However, it’s a very pleasant board in tone.
I joined Giraffe’s board but so far have not posted much over there. I don’t feel as though I have a good grasp on that board’s flavor, so I can’t really comment on it.
I’m on DoMeBo and I really like it. I do not find the posters bitter as mentioned upthread. There were a few SDMB-related threads where ppl were venting during the Recent Unpleasantness (much as there have been here), but those are relegated to the back burner now and there’s a lot of very interesting conversation going on in the other forums. I enjoy the photograph forum especially.
I’m sure there are some other obscure forums I’ve signed up for - Roomba’s user forums spring to mind - but they aren’t really what you’re asking about.

I joined Domebo and really like it. Kind of like a Dope without the feel of oppression. Then, of course, my job decided to block it because it is ‘uncategorized’ whatever the hell that means.

I spend time on a few hiking and skiing message boards, all moderated. I’ve given up on the unmoderated ones recently. Mainly Views from the Top, Telemark Tips, Time for Tuckerman, and the Digital Camera Resource Page. I haven’t visited the offshoots of SDMB yet, I may someday.
