So where are you on the political compass?

Just took the test at

http://www.politicalcompass.org/

I come out as

Left-Right -5.92
Authoritarian - Libertarian -4.92

which puts makes me a more libertarian version of Ghandi

I sort of guessed where I’d be round abouts, by spotting my two favourite politicians (Tony Benn and Ken Livingstone), still it’s nice to have my left liberal credentials affirmed.

Anyone else care to have a go (and share?)

Your political compass:
Economic Left/Right: -0.82
Authoritarian/Libertarian: -7.12

Simon Hughes is closest to me, whowever that may be.

Although this is aimed at the UK, the outcome doesn’t surprise me: slightly left of the middle with a preference for limited state interference (basically stuff like health care, infrastructure, and social security). Yup, that would be me.

Left-Right: 2.65
Authoritarian-Libertarian: -6.86

My score is pretty close to Charles Kennedy, leader of the Liberal Democrats. I don’t know much about British politics, so I don’t know if I should be happy about this or not. Time for some research…

Economic Left/Right: -1.43
Authorit’n/Libert’n: -7.23

Sheesh, I strongly disagree with anmost everything.

Your political compass
Economic Left/Right: 0.61
Authoritarian/Libertarian: -4.82

I’m near Kennedy and Robin Cook (though it’d be easier to tell which I’m closer to if that graph had marked coordinates.) Of course, I have no idea who they are.

Economic Left/Right: -2.65
Authoritarian/Libertarian: -5.29

Unfortunatly, I know very little of British politics.
U.S. politics is confusing, and hilarious, enough to occupy me.
I would like to see where some of our politicos would fit on their graph.
I’m also surprised in that I thought I was much more ‘right-wing’ on economic issues.

Mine is:
Economic Left/Right: -4.49
Authoritarian/Libertarian: -5.81

So I’m well within the Gandhi zone. (Yay! I knew that already.)

I’m matched with Ken Livingstone, but unfortunately I have no idea who that is. They should do this for Americans too. Right now I can’t find anyone I really want to vote for. I voted for Nader last year, but still looking for someone who really represents me. Well, anyway…

Go Ken!

Economic Left/Right: -2.65
Authoritarian/Libertarian: -5.18

Worryingly close to Ken Livingstone. Must get myself some newts.

Economic Left/Right: -1.84
Authoritarian/Libertarian: -2.51

I found some of the questions a bit odd.

Economic Left/Right: 3.06
Authoritarian/Libertarian: -3.46
No Authoritarians so far, but I know there are pro-State control people out here somewhere.

Economic Left/Right: -0.82
Authoritarian/Libertarian: -4.55

Economic Left/Right: 0.61
Authoritarian/Libertarian: -4.08

Yep, that looks about right.

Economic Left/Right: -3.47
Authoritarian/Libertarian: -4.66

Seems about right to me, though I think the questions also should have a “middle/neutral” option. I was semi-apathetic to some of the questions, but had to pick “agree” or “disagree” because there wasn’t a middle choice.

Not a bad site, though.

Economic Left/Right: -2.24
Authoritarian/Libertarian: -4.14

I’m Ghandi, dammit.

4.29
-5.08

Mr. Freedom.

Nobody on the chart is really close to me.

Left/Right: 2.86
Auth/Lib: -2.36

Right in the vicinity of Robin Cook, who is either the author of medical thriller novels or a British Cabinet member.

I come out as:
Economic Left/Right: -3.27
Authoritarian/Libertarian: -6.75

Near Simon Hughes or Ken Livingstone, whoever they are…

I was really baffled by the question: Wars and social choas can be ended with a flood or violent earthquake.

What did that mean??

Mine:
Economic Left/Right: -3.06
Authoritarian/Libertarian: -5.50

The ones nearest me seem to be Tony Benn and Ken Livingstone.

I think it refers to taking religious texts literally, or somesuch. So “Strongly Disagree” means “Get outta here! It’s just a book, dude”.

Economic Left/Right: -0.61
Authoritarian/Libertarian: -2.77

Would this make some sort of sense to me if I were British? Tony Blair is the only name on that chart I have a passing familiarity with (All I know about modern British politics I learned from Adrian Mole) at all, though he’s on the other side of the chart.
