This is just out of interest, I’ve seen a lot of misconceptions about the European Union floating around this board and I think many members would be interested in asking questions about it.
So if I wanted to start a thread called “Ask me about the EU as a global actor” could I get away with it in GD or do I need specific posts to refute?
I find the search system here laborious (I understand why) so I doubt I’d bother digging up people’s old quotes.
Thanks for your help.
I believe they usually go into MPSIMS.
Most of the *"Ask the. . . " *threads involve personal situations or beliefs, which is why they tend to go into MPSIMS. A less personal thread might be better placed in IMHO. The problem with placing it in GD from the get-go is that a number of posters will immediately see that as an open call for “rebuttal” for every little thing that comes up.
I would suggest that it be placed in IMHO, with a note in the OP that any specific statements can be challenged with separate threads in Great Debates. This will reduce the possibility of hijacks in the “Ask the. . .” thread, itself, while still acknowledging that the OP is not infallible or above questioning.
