Yep, I’m diving back into the job market. I would like to stay here in Brazil, but I would like to work for an American or European company, I think the best rout for this would be to approach “head hunters” that specialize in international placement. 3 days of searching has yielded several individual companies, but what I’m looking for is * the list *. Is there an association of companies that specialize in this, and if so do they have a member list? You get the Idea. Any info here would be most appreciated. I know there must be more then a hand full of International placement agencies out there.
The best suggestion I can give is, if your area has a business journal, they frequently publish a list of the top executive search firms in the region. Crain’s is a big one – perhaps they have a nationwide list.
Now that I think about it, the largest search firms have offices pretty much everywhere, so the top ten or so will probably be identical from region to region.
The biggest issue with Head Hunters - also known as Recruiters - is that there are TONS of small, mom-n’-pop firms that are super well connected in a given industry, you just have to network to find out about them. I suspect they would be geographically specific, too, so you would need to network in your country/region.
As for the big names - there are a few off the top of my head:
Spencer Stuart
Heidrick and Struggles
Korn Ferry
Russell Reynolds
There are other Big Firms - but that’s a start. Beyond that, network with them for names of smaller firms, use the Internet and Google any keyword combo you can - recruiting+your industry - and ask anyone you can that has connections in your industry and geography.
