So, who was in the streets today?

I was, along with about 10,000 other people here in Austin. Huge turnout, good stuff. I understand that there were much larger protests going on in cities around the world, on every continent including Antarctica (No, I don’t have a cite, but I’ll see if I can dig one up).

Seemed to go very well here (Austin being a very liberal town, of course), a lot of support from people in cars and on foot nearby, and very little negative interaction between police and protesters (well, the girl I was with was almost run down by an overly eager motorcycle cop, and other people were rather roughly shown the way out of the street and on to the sidewalks, but other than that… no gassings, beatings, rubber bullets, major face-offs or anything. Peace protesters do tend to be rather… well, peaceful.)

So, yeah. Who was out there today? How did it go where you were?

Apparently your OP is the three millionth post (not including lost posts) on the SDMB.

Wow, they don’t call you Lucki for nothing I guess!

I was on the sidelines of a London protest, but the idiot quotient was uncomfortably high. I wasn’t convinced that the way to change Tony Blair’s mind was to blow whistles at ear-piercing volume and drop litter everywhere. I made myself scarce about half way through.

[Looks out window]

Hmmm . . . I see a jogger, an old man walking his dog, and several squirrels.
