This is the bottom line.
A lot of people would be willing to live in cardboard boxes under the freeway overpass, as long as they have a President telling them (in so many words and deeds) that they are members of the Superior Race. Of course they’d call the cardboard box settlements “Obamavilles.”
And as long as Those People don’t even have cardboard boxes.
They’ll have to go live in a lake.
O brave new world…
Luxury. We used to have to get out of the lake at three o’clock in the morning, clean the lake, eat a handful of 'ot gravel, work twenty hours a day at mill for tuppence a month, come home, and Dad would beat us around the neck with a broken bottle, if we were lucky
Are you suggesting that Truman is somehow responsible for the Democrat collective’s failure to convince enough voters to put Hillary in the WH, and give the Democrat Party control of both houses of Congress? Or are you suggesting that even Truman had a better chance than Hillary did of besting Trump?
“I’m not blaming myself, I’ll be honest”, maybe you’ve heard that somewhere else.
I know of no organization called “the Democrat collective”, and no party called “the Democrat party”. If you’d like to talk about real-world organizations, feel free, but none of us know how fantasy-world organizations will act or react.
I’m suggesting that there was a time when a president (and he happened to be a Democrat) took responsibility for the things that happened within his administration; stuff he did, stuff he didn’t do, the buck stopped at his desk.
Where does the buck stop in the Trump administration? “According to some Democrats, literally everything is supposed to be Trump’s fault. Blah, blah, blah.” Well, yeah, he’s the guy behind the desk. If he’s not responsible for the stuff done (not done, should have done, etc.) by his administration, who is?
I’m told that a lot of people voted for Trump because they felt they had nothing to lose.
Well, they were obviously wrong, since without the efforts of millions of non-Trump voters, lots of them would have lost their ObamaCare if they had that. Congress was all set to kill it until millions called their representatives and put a stop to that – I imagine those weren’t Trump voters, since he promised to kill it. He’s doing his best to dismantle it anyway.
Now, the middle-class get to have their taxes raised, so that millionaires and billionaires can get tax cuts. Then, they get to deal with big cuts to Medicaid and Medicare. West Virginia, whose economy really doesn’t depend on coal anymore, is a big recipient of both Medicaid and -care, plus healthcare is a huge part of their economy. They are big Trump supporters.
Also, the rule of law, democratic norms, world leadership and respect, etc. But, they get lots of liberal tears to drink, so maybe that will make up for all that they’ve lost.
(post shortened)
Hahahaha! You spell as poorly as the lamestream media.
To answer the OP: Because Republicans are not a hive mind (contrary to how they are sometimes portrayed,) and they are also poorly organized, short-sighted, and cannot work together among themselves.
@ doorhinge — You’ve been instructed that many people and organizations, including the Democratic Party itself, find the epithet “Democrat Party” to be offensive. I used to make this spelling error occasionally, but I’ve caught myself and now manage to add the “ic.”
But you don’t. You persist with the offensive epithet. Why? I (and others) are sincerely curious. Are you actually unable to remember the name of America’s 220-year old Democratic Party? Or do you think that using the wrong name somehow contributes to the political debate??
More often, just indicative of a passively-considered statement that can be disregarded.
Presumably he does it because he enjoys doing so. Of such petty pleasures is life made.
Because it’s way easier to say with a sneer.
If you figure out the answer to this, you will figure out why Donald Trump won the election. He does it because it’s a middle finger to the people he loathes. The election was a middle finger to people he loathes. It’s why Trump is impervious to actual policy; much of his electorate doesn’t care about the policy, but the tone. He can raise their taxes all he wants as long as he sticks it to liberals.
Or else it’s fake outrage from people who are trying to put the other side on the defensive.
