So, why haven't Republicans got rid of Trump?

This. For all the insults that get leveled at conservatives and Trump around here, it’s more than a tad comical how many noses get our of joint over a left-off “ic”.

Your (mistaken) belief that that is the response you get is why you do it, right?

I had to get up in the morning at 10:00 PM—half an hour before I went to bed—drink a quart of sulphuric acid for breakfast, work 29 hours a day down mill, whilst paying the mill owner for permission to come to work. Then, when we got home, our Dad and our mother would kill us, and dance about on our graves singing ‘Hallelujah.’
Try to tell that to kids today.
They won’t believe ya’.

Is there an “organization” called “the Democrat collective”? None that I’m aware of. What is your definition of “organization”? A “Democrat collective” would be a group of Democrats. (EEEEK! That’s a scary thought on this All Hallows Eve day.) Boo.
*organization
noun
a group whose members work together for a shared purpose in a continuing way:

the National Organization of Women

Labor organizations have contributed heavily to the Democratic campaigns.*

*collective
adjective
of or shared by every member of a group of people:

It was a collective decision/effort.*

Should I assume that you know what a Democrat is?

If this is directed at me, I’ll note that I try not to do it. This year I’ve been making an effort to call people by their preferred labels (no “Democrat Party” / “Drumpf” / “jugears”). I doubt I’ve been perfect at it, but I have made a sincere effort.

I guess this poll can give us some insight into why. It says that 79% of Trump-voters polled think Trump should stay in office even if it’s proven his campaign colluded with Russia. GOP politicians need those voters. And while certainly there’s a likelihood that a good percentage are just voting that way because they really do believe there is no collusion and are dismissing the possibility, there’s undoubtedly a fair number who really do feel that way. That the end justifies the means or everyone does it or whatnot. Just that Trump is better than the alternative, even if his campaign did collude.

Big caveat that I do not know the exact question asked and it implies or allows for Trump lacking knowledge of his campaign’s collusion. How good the poll is is also up for debate.

It’s not fake for me, but it’s not really outrage. It’s just really annoying, more annoying than when people accuse liberals or Democrats of this or that. It’s just so childish and, for some reason, it’s like nails on a blackboard for me. But, I get that many Trump voters are in it for the liberal tears, so doorhinge can go for that if he wants to and the mods say it’s fine.

It’s childish like Repugs or Rethuglicans. Just stupid and childish.

I’m reading through an argument, and it can get heated at times by both sides, and then someone comes in with Democrat Party and it’s like the record scratch sound. Just annoys and distracts me.

So, doorhinge, I’m asking you kindly to stop. Nice people would accomodate that.

Shodan, you don’t resort to that childish ploy, so I’m not sure why you’re white-knighting him.

HD: That was the general “you”. True, I’ve never seen you *specifically *claim not to have a thought worthy of anyone’s attention by doing it. There are others in this thread who can’t say that, though.

Lately.

Democratic collective would make sense (and Democratic is one of the examples in your post). Democrat collective is grammatically incorrect, and does not make sense.

“Instructed”? Seriously??? Unfortunately, I was not/am not aware of how influential your “instruction” should have been to my preferred internet posting word choices. I promise, here and now, that I will take your feelings into consideration every time I write the phrase “Democrat Party”.

Everyone - Please drop the hijack about political party names. This thread is ostensibly about why Republicans haven’t turned on Trump.

Next time when you are thinking about trying to get a shot in at another poster - don’t.

I have insulted conservatives. Don’t know that its possible to insult Trump.

Getting back to the OP, I read an article the other day that seems on-topic. I suspect many Dopers are in the sort of liberal bubble that the author describes in his opening:

They’re Trump-strong in rural Iowa — and not changing their minds

Here is his take-away:

Not seeing that, what he is describing is the actual bubble. That one where about 37% of the people is in favor of Trump.

On a wider view, that is outside the bubble, most Americans (close to 60%) disapprove of Trump.

Of curse I do see that getting rid of trump is not in the cards right now, so the card that we should be looking at, the one about getting rid of the congressional rascals that are not doing anything about Trump, is the one that should be using now.

The common clay …

I’m shocked that polls don’t seem to agree with the results of actual elections (as opposed to those if-the-election-were-held-today type polls). In spite of what the polls, pundits, and lame stream media types suggest, Republicans still hold a majority in both Houses of Congress, the WH, governorships, and state legislative bodies.

While elected Democrats, the Democrat Party, and the Democrat collective, wish/feel/demand that Republicans and conservatives think, and act, as Democrats regarding Trump’s stay in the WH, it’s hard to ignore the fact that the Democrats simply aren’t being very persuasive.

An unassisted triple play!
