So, will the forum description be changing?

I’ve got a question and a concern.

This would seem more reasonable if it weren’t posted in a forum called “About This Message Board”, which bears the description:

So, is the forum description going to be changed to remove the references to “complaints” and “administration”, or maybe just adding the addendum “subject to Ed’s whim”?

I like to know these things. Funny; I’ve never made a complaint about the administration of this Board in the decade I’ve been posting here, until now.

post deleted out of fear it could be interpreted as snark

Why did you post this? There isn’t anything here which couldn’t have been said in the pit thread. It almost certainly didn’t need a separate conversation started about a topic as low in priority as forum descriptions during this time when hundreds of people are already lobbing hundreds of questions/compaints at the Mods/Admins.

One of the things which probably caused the Admins to be the most frustrated by the response to the Barn House forum was that a large number of people started new threads to say, essentially, the same thing. The Mods and Admins here have been, over the years, pretty responsive to community sentiment when it is united. If you oppose the banning of Otto and/or the general warning of all SDMB members regarding comments about SDMB administration(technical and moderation), staying focused and on message is the best way to sway the Mods/Admins. Opening threads for every minor twist on the same argument just makes more work for them, irritates them, and dilutes the community’s message.

For both party’s sake, let’s prioritize the issues between the community and the staff and stay on focus for the top ones. Forum descriptions, IMHO, aren’t anywhere near the top at this point. The most people, based on activity in the pit thread, seem to be wanting a resolution for the banning issue. Let’s give the staff a little time to work with the community to get that one resolved, then we can move on to what it may or may not mean for the future administration of the SDMB.

Enjoy,
Steven

Another discussion we don’t need to be having right now.
