Get a bunch of squirt bottles and make sure someone sprays their stupid maskless faces. When they get all mad about it, tell them that could have been a sneeze and you just saved their life with your on point object lesson. If nothing else, fun will be had!
You know what? You can fuck briskly off as well. My daughter works in a grocery store and in spite of every goddamned measure they can put in place the clueless shitbird shoppers will ignore every one. They cram up on her without masks on, they cough and sneeze without a mask on, they bitch and complain about having to stand in line to get in and to stay back from the register and basically just carry on as though TENS OF THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE DYING is something that’s happening JUST to inconvenience THEM personally. They mutter darkly about the Gestapo and Soviet Russia too, just in case anyone can possibly miss how TERRIBLY AGGRIEVED AND WRONGED THEY ARE. And this happens HUNDREDS OF TIMES A DAY just in her smallish store. And it makes her scared and mad and she can’t actually DO anything about these clueless wastes of protoplasm so she ends up going into the break room and fucking CRYING on a nearly daily basis. And that is reality for thousands of front line essential workers across the nation. Just because you don’t see it or understand it just means you should STFU and listen instead of flapping your blubberlips at the internet. Oh, and go lick a doorknob at the ER why don’t you, since you think this is all so innocuous and overblown. Give it a really good slurp.
I read his exchanges (I think I read all of them). Maybe I’m not getting it, but I don’t read ‘passive aggressive asshole’ in that thread. His usually smart-ass self? Yeah I suppose, but I think he was actually trying to make a point in that thread. His last crack was being used ironically. I would have avoided using that language but in that context, I don’t think he was trying to be an asshole.
All of this being said, the meaning behind elucidator’s humor isn’t always obvious. This probably won’t be the last trip to the pit for luci.
I guess blathering and frothing about it makes you feel better but no one here is spewing covid 19 at your precious. I get it, get some PPE of your own devising if you feel left out to dry by management, while you’re freaking out about it ask the boss ask for hazardous pay too. I’m volunteering (no pay, no insurance, no freebies or discounts either) at a food bank, we see and talk to hundreds of people a day using our blubberlips but none of us are curling up in a ball about it. I dare say your precious may not be cut out for the job, maybe she can get medical leave I hope, thoughts and prayers,
All of us have assholish moments. I’m no exception. I don’t think elucidator is a bad guy. But “not being a bad guy” is not the same as being a good person. A good person would have apologized already. A good person would have least owned up to misunderstanding what people were talking about.
I don’t know why doing these two things is so hard to do, but apparently they are.
Check out the link I posted a few posts up from here - elucidator says Anne Coulter looks like a transsexual, a trans poster points out that’s a messed up thing to say, and it leads directly to eight pages of elucidator acting like a cock and throwing a tantrum that anyone would dare criticize him. He really is a gigantic, entitled asshole - it’s just that he contributes so little actual content to the board that it’s easy to miss - unless you catch one of the rare instances where he actually tries to engage, and almost invariably ends up showing his whole ass.
Simmer down your suffering is a ploy for sympathy and flouncing off in a huff and shouting curses demeans you, have a care or the next life you save may be mine and I thank you.
What’s “good” and “bad”? Someone posted early in the thread, saying “You’re a bad guy” which is just dumb because nobody knows who he is in real life. And terms like “good” and “bad” are just intellectually lazy and overbroad.
“Insensitive”? “Lacking self-awareness”? Okay I’ll go along with those labels because there’s a growing pile of evidence that this is true. But compare him to, say, Slacker, who is an unapologetic racist, regardless of his politics.
Broomstick is venting. She is frustrated, upset, and frightened - and with VERY good reason. She doesn’t need people giving her shit. She’s doing an essential job, and I’m grateful to her and all the people like her who are keeping the food stores running.
If you do have any PPE, make sure you donate it to a hospital, why the fuck world you have any level of protection if there are medical people who don’t.
(Note: you are out there working at a food bank, I actually hope like hell you DO have some sort of ppe, to protect the people who are interacting with your blubberlips)
We don’t know each other in real life. We only see online personas. If someone acts like a bad person online, guess what? They deserve to be called a “bad person” by online spectators. We shouldn’t have to wring our hands over how saintly they may be in real life before we call a duck a duck.
I don’t agree with calling people “bad” all willy-nilly like. But “bad” is no more intellectually lazy or overbroad than “asshole” or “unapologetic racist”. In my opinion, someone who refuses to apologize when they’ve offended someone (regardless of intent) has earned an assortment of descriptors–all of them connoting “bad”.
I seriously doubt elucidator’s self-esteem is going to take a hit just because someone called him a bad person in a Pit thread. Or an asshole, for that matter.
I get that you think “smartass” is different than “asshole”, and you have every right to make that distinction. But I’ve only seen the latter behavior in this thread.
