Is Elucidator thinking of swearing off food for the upcoming few months? Maybe he’s got enough stuff stashed to feed the household for 6 months while all the groceries shut down, but just in case he doesn’t - or there are others who don’t - someone’s got to sell those groceries… and I’m having a little trouble understanding why those people should be risking their lives for minimum wage or maybe a couple bucks more.
Does a grocery worker need an N95 mask? No, probably not. But any mask at all will help reduce the spread. Hell, I’m not sure why stores are even allowing customers in without masks - if I were a retailer I’d probably make a policy like that.

You don’t get it - you don’t get that your expressed desire to remove protection from grocery store workers means REAL PEOPLE getting exposed to a real disease, that could make them real sick and in some cases will make them really dead. If you don’t want to be shit on, then you can’t continue doing shitty behavior. You have to apologize for the bad behavior that hurt people, and work on not doing it again. You can’t expect to do shitty things without consequences.
You can’t go around attacking everyone and thinking that will get them to shut up. That just makes you seem like even more of an asshole, and thus you’ll get shit on more.
It’s one thing if people are still going on after you’ve apologized. I hate that. But you haven’t. You’ve made excuses, but you’ve never got your head out of your ass long enough to figure out the implications of what you said, or why everyone is mad at you over it.
Figure it out (ask questions if you need to), apologize, and try to do better, and people will leave you alone.
I’ll try to help: grocery store workers deserve protection. Medical people do, too. These are separate concerns. Grocers don’t need to go without because Medical workers are going without. They can get lesser equipment.
Oh, and being snarky on sensitive subjects tends to make you seem like you don’t really care, and often results in saying shitty thing. You should save the snark for less important thing.

A normal person would have said “Sorry, I didn’t realize it came off that way. Of course I care about grocery store workers. I just meant that medical supplies should go to doctors/nurses first, not that grocery store workers should have no protection at all. Did you read the first page of this thread? It’s all about grocery store workers wearing masks to protect themselves. So either you were talking about N95 masks, or you don’t know how the masks work.
Broomstick wants the kind of mask that protects the wearer. elucidator points out that there aren’t enough of those masks for everyone who needs them, and health care workers need them more. Broomstick goes ballistic on elucidator and says that he’s trying to kill her by trying to deny her access to the kind of mask that protects the wearer. And elucidator is the idiot here?
Well actually, who DOES need them more? A person who is dealing on a close personal level with people who are sick, who know they are sick, and who need medical help? Or a person who is dealing on a much less close level with people who are probably not sick, but might be? Nobody wants to get sick.
I mean, I would say that if there are only a limited number of masks, health-care workers should get them first. I don’t mean to denigrate the people who are keeping the grocery stores running.
Chronos, cloth masks do protect the grocery workers. From each other. For crying out loud, I gave you a lot more credit than this. There’s a reason why the CDC explicitly lists grocery stores as the place where cloth masks should be used.
