So you muted a thread by accident

Guess you’re fucked.

Unless you can find it again and unmute it.

One way to do that is to search for it. If you can find it, great. Unmute it and you’re golden.

But another way to do that is to go to the forum you think it’s in and append ?state=muted to the end of the forum name in your browser’s address bar.

So for ATMB, you’d change
https://boards.straightdope.com/c/about-this-message-board/8
to
https://boards.straightdope.com/c/about-this-message-board/8?state=muted

That will show you all of the threads you’ve muted in that forum.

Note that it may not work if you also have the whole forum muted.

Alternatively, you can click on your avatar in the upper right hand corner, then click on Preferences, then click on Categories on the left hand side, then scroll down to Muted and close the forums indicated as Muted.

At least, this is an available option in Vincent. I don’t know about the other interfaces.

ETA: To see individual threads instead of whole forums, you have to click on Show, above the Muted category.

Thanks! I always forget about the Show button.

One of the things I do like a lot about this software is the ability to mute forums/threads I don’t wish to trow through. But we all change our minds sometimes.
