Yeah, I’ve never understood what causes someone to think, “Oh hey, let’s take this guy’s pants off and insert something into his anus!” As a (heterosexual) male, I can quite definitely say that one of the last things I ever want to do is help another guy take off his pants, let alone forcefully remove them. And when you get to talking about getting down, separating buttcheeks, finding buttholes, targetting the object with your fingers, and actually forcing something up there, we’re way off the bottom of the list of things any guy is going to contemplate.
You have to really have a deathwish desire to literally shove something up someone’s ass, to successfully block off thousands of generations of simple built in oog-factor. Or something. Bleh.

In what is still a very heterosexist society where the parameters of manhood (and womanhood, for that matter) are still very narrowly defined (at least for a great many people), I don’t know that I could think of a more effective way of demasculanizing another man.
That is one of the reaons, for instance, why men who have sex with men (MSM), but who are not themselves anally receptive (but who could be, or tend to be, anally insertive), will deny to their dying days that they are either gay or bisexual.
Of course, I tend to think, too, whenever I hear of stuff like this, that there could be a little bit of, umm, sexual desire on the part of the perps. Then, again, I’m a gay man who thinks that there are lots of heterosexual men (I know, guys–not all) who have fantasies about engaging in male-on-male anal sex.
At any rate, it’s really fucked up what they did to that dude, and a part of me (the part I’m not proud of, but not too-too ashamed of, either) really wants them to suffer the way he did. Poor guy–to have this to deal with now, on top of everything else he has going on. 
I don’t know. If they get sent to prison, maybe we can foward the news arcticle to the prison and request it be posted on a bulletin board in the inmate lounge. The inmates will handle things from there.
