Soft foods... need answer fast!

Yikes!

As much as I like rice, I can just imagine a grain getting stuck down in the socket where a tooth was pulled. I’d skip this until he is sure the gum line has healed over.
For soft protein laden goodness after wisdom teeth extraction I ate refried beans with a bit of cheese melted on top. Taco Bell Pintos 'N Cheese fed my craving cheaply.

The first food I ate after having my wisdom teeth out (and also when I had my tonsils out) was scrambled eggs with cheese. Delicious.

Also, why not make some soups? Potato soup with cheese (use up some of your mashed taters), split pea soup, even chicken and rice soup. You can shred the chicken really finely.

Also, shepherd’s pie. Soft mashed taters on top of a bed of ground beef/lamb. Very soft.

Tofu. There’s a very good recipe on Allrecipes for marinated baked tofu, but tonight I’m making the Cook’s Country fried tofu again. The kids love it. Dry and dredge in cornflour. Make a sweet soy sauce/honey/ginger/siracha sauce. Brown rice and frozen stir fry veggies. Never have leftovers.

How about pulled-pork barbecue?
