Softball Arm Problems

I have been playing baseball since I was a kid, and now I play softball. This has been a problem that has bothered me for years off and on, since I was in little league at times.

Basically it is caused by throwing too hard early in the season, maybe without warming up properly.

My problem is pain in the elbow, maybe bicep as well. It feels like it is on the inside of my elbow, and maybe up my arm a bit on the inside as well.

It only comes up when I’m throwing, it doesn’t bother me at all any other time. Once I make a few throws it starts up, especially if I thow hard at all. The more throws I make, the worse it gets. If I stop throwing it generally goes away fairly quickly (until I throw again).

It really feels like I screw something up early in the year and never give it a chance to heal. Once it comes up once, it seems like it will be there for the rest of the season. I don’t think it came up last year (at least I don’t remember it), I felt good all year. But in most years, I will hurt it early and then it will stick with me for anywhere from a month or more to the whole season.

I’m 24 if that means anything, but this has been comming up since I was in my early teens or even earlier.

Any advice? I would assume my best bet would be to start the seasons slower, but since my arm is already hurting this year I can’t really go back in time. Anything I can do from here on out? Any guesses as to what is causing this, or a diagnosis.
