What did hitting golf balls do to my arm?

okay, I went to a driving range and hit a bucket of balls. (about 3 months ago)

I suck at golf, I slice the crap out of the ball 8/10 times. But I swing for dear life.

Info note: I swing righthanded (like a righty in baseball).

Anyway, days later I start to feel pain in my right arm near where the bicep meets the forearm. There are days when it feels weak as a kitten. Then it’ll feel okay for days, only to return if I do something like horse around with my 4 year old.

So what could I possibly have done to my arm?

(and yes I finally made a doctor’s appt, but I’m looking for possibilities.)

Sounds kinda like tendonitis.

I concur with tendonitis, literally, inflammation of a tendon, aka ‘tennis elbow.’

I’ve had the same symptoms: sometimes, it’s perfectly fine; other times, it hurts like hell. Sometimes it works at full strength, sometimes it’s incredibly weak.

I’ve had it in the wrist (thank-you, computer mouse!), elbow, and shoulder (from being the oarsmen of a white water rafting expedition).

On it’s own, it can heal in about four to forty weeks. Yeah, it’s a bitch. Depends how much you keep aggravating it.

Wrapping it with ace bandages (not so tightly that you cut off circulation) or wearing an elastic elbow brace helps. Often, it’s one particular point that needs the compression. The bandage also reminds you to go easy on the joint and not aggravate it.

A regular regime of anti-inflammatory agents also helps. Aspirin/ibuprofen not only reduces inflammation, they reduce the pain.

I’ve also heard that alternating heat and cold helps, but, I’ve never tried that.

If it’s truly debilitating, or incredibly painful, or not getting better over time, see a doc.

Peace.

Just speaking from a personal event of about 5 years ago similar to your’s and the doctor said tendonitis.

Wow - I’m shocked to hear that tendonitis can be induced so readily; after all
I only hit one damn bucket of balls.

Thanks for the SD>

It happens to a lot of people starting out at golf. You can get a brace of sorts to wear when you’re practicing.

But if you start swinging well, the pain will go away for the most part.

However, if you’re like me, you might want to invest in the brace.
