Software Suggestions - DVD burner for Mac

I’m the proud owner of an iMac that’s a few years old. Got it used (and blank) last year, and loaded Snow Leopard on it. I have iMovie, but no iDVD, and am trying to burn a DVD to send with Xmas packages. I’ve had a devil of a time trying to find something, apparently Apple has discontinued iDVD as a standalone product, I suppose since DVDs are as useless as buggywhips these days.

Any thoughts on how to get a DVD burning product that can take an iMovie output and make something watchable on my Grandmother-in-law’s DVD player? I’d appreciate a program that isn’t going to cost me an arm and a leg just to do something that, IMHO, should be standard capability in any “movie” software product.

iDVD is part of iLife, but Apple stopped updating it at version 7.1.2. If you have iLife, then it should be part of the package. If you are updating to iLife 11 from an earlier version that includes iDVD 7, then it won’t overwrite it. If you don’t have iLife, then get iDVD from the Apple support site Download page

Alternatives include Toast, which is useful if you want to burn DVDs longer than 2 hours. iDVD can’t do that, but also doesn’t cost $80!
