Some days I have blue eyes, other days I have green eyes.

My eyes are kind of a bluish green in color. However, some days my eyes are very blue, almost like an ice blue color. Then, I’ve had days where my eyes go almost completely green. My wife noticed this many years ago when we were first dating. I’ve also had several other people remark on my eyes changing color. It does’nt do it suddenly, they seem to change color overnight or over several days.
Does anyone else have eye color that does this? Does anyone know why this happens?

Mine do this too!!

I call them hazel, but they sometimes appear blue and sometimes green. To be fair, the blue is a sort of grey-blue, an ice blue, and the green is a bluish green, but they can be very different colours on different days.

I don’t know what causes it, but I think it has a bit to do with perception, as my eyes will often appear bluer when I am wearing blue.

My eyes do this too. I’m not sure why, but girls will often remark on how my eyes are blue and my hair is blonde. I usually respond “my hair is not blonde and my eyes are not blue”, but I’ve noticed the change too. Of course, my hair just changes after i stay in the sun alot over the summer. My eyes are a different story.

Well, I won’t say I’m an expert on the anatomy of the eye, but I believe that iris’ color is not due to actual pigment, but of the structure of the iris. Depending on the structure, the iris will radiate a certain color; much like the blue in the feathers of any blue bird. So depending on what the light is like (overcast light as opposed to sunny day light), your eye color will appear different. I think. I could be wrong. ;>

My mother’s eyes are normally bluish brownish, but when she’s angry or very sad, they turn a striking green. Mine too…it’s odd and hard to file things about their colour for the gov’t, like for driver’s licenses.

Is it possible to have eyes of two different colors? Can your eyes change color?

Bump

Hey have you guys been on the melange again? , fremen have ice blue eyes since they are near the spice / melange all the time (Dune)

With me it depends on what I’m wearing, or if I’ve actually put some eye make-up on.

My eyes are naturally blue or blue-gray depending on who you ask. If I wear a shirt that comes close to the blue or gray part of the blue-gray (that’ll make sense if you think about it), my eyes seem to pick up that shade and go more blue or gray, depending. It’s a neat effect when it happens. As to the make-up, I once did a cat face with greasepaint for Halloween, with a lot of gray right around my eyes. REALLY neat effect, they “went” totally gray.

I’ve also had this happen with a dark green sleep shirt I wear, but have yet to have anyone else back me up on it (never really worn it out of my own apartment!). That’s the one I find most interesting, as it’s not a matter of simply picking up a shade that’s already there. I’m not claiming that my eyes go all Scarlett O’Hara emerald, but they do seem to darken quite a bit.

Ditto. I have grey/blue eyes that definitely look bluer with the right shirt. Think the light also plays a part.

But also I think I may be one of those people Cecil’s article linked above mentions. My eyes have got bluer in the last five years. At the same time I’ve also got more sensitive to bright light, but don’t know if that’s related. But I could wander about no problem as a youngster without sunglasses, whereas now very bright days without sunglasses are positively painful.

I’ve known people whose eyes seem to change colour with their moods. One guy I dated had eyes that were normally a rather bland grey-blue, but when he got really, really pissed off, they became an intense electric blue. Eerily beautiful.

Another guy had blue-grey eyes that turned green when he was. . . in the mood.

I considered it a handy warning system. Heh.

Doesn’t seem to happen with brown eyes, though, does it?

My wife has the blue/green eyes too. Sometimes they’re more blue than green, sometimes more green than blue, sometimes slate grey.

Not much. I have brown/green eyes, but they’re always more brown than green.

I have no idea what the science is behind it, but yes eyes can change colour.

Mine change between grey / blue / green / hazel-ish and combinations of those colours. I’m not saying that I blink and my eyes go from a bright blue to a piercing green ! They just graduate from, say a grey-blue to a grey-green, over a period of hours. I brushed this off to the colours around me reflecting into and influencing the perception of my eyes. My partner took this as a personal affront to his colour judgement, and decided to check my eyes every morning in the same light, with a white sheet under my chin. (Needless to say, this was in the days when we didn’t have to leave home before sunrise to earn a living… ahhh those carefree days… ) He did this for a couple of weeks, (small attention span) but is now 100 % sure that my eyes change colour.

Though I have no evidence, I’m inclined to think it may have more to do with foods I have eaten, rather than different moods. Just my opinion, though :stuck_out_tongue:

When i was born my eyes were blue, when i was no longer a toddler, like around age 4 maybe even late 3, my eyes started to change to light blue, dark blue, sky blue, basically all shades of blue. No one could determine what shade of blue my natural eye color was. When i was around 7 or 8 or younger, my eyes started to change to green, and then blue, it happened so often that i wasn’t sure if i had green eyes or blue eyes but we guessed blue since i always had blue eyes in the past. As i got older it started to last a few days, like for a few days up to a week rarely more my eyes would stay either blue or green. People say eyes only change colors due to the light and what not, but i don’t see how my eyes remained a certain color for a while then swapped. In my pre-teens my eyes started to change colors more frequently, but the certain color they stayed at lasted much longer, like months. I remember being able to hold up a green shirt and my eyes would turn green right in front of me, then a blue shirt and they would go blue, a shirt that wasn’t either green or blue and they would go to their current default color either blue or green. In my teens they started going to like every shade of green except when it was a dark green it wasn’t hazel looking, it was like green like grass. They also went to all shades of blue including silver. for the longest time whenever i cried my eyes went lighter than baby blue, except the lining around my eye was a deep blue. During these times i rarely had some gold in my eye, it was almost always a shade of blue or green. I am 22 now and my eyes for the most part don’t change colors much. They settled to being green with the outer circle around the colored part of my eye being blue then under the green color you could see some shades of blue and nearest to my pupil, there is a little bit of gold. So now they classify as blue green eyes. When i cry they light up to a more blue color than green, its like the green part of my eye just fades away. I can’t find anything online explaining my eye color history at all, i don’t know how to explain how my eye completely changed its color and not based off the lighting.

mine change also … normally slate-gray … change to livid, luminescent blue during mating ritual. the eyes were blue when i was young … dad’s were green and mom’s blue.
