Some malware prevents me from accessing antivirus sites

Thanks for the links and help in this thread, folks. I am fixing to embark upon a removal adventure myself.

It’s still working great for me, knock on wood. I used SDFix first, and it found and fixed a bunch of stuff. Then I followed up with a SUPERAntiSpyware scan, which found 2 things. Then I scanned with malwarebytes and it found and eliminated an additional 47 things. When I rebooted, it was purring like a kitten. Everything still seems to be OK, but I have not as yet run any additional scans to verify that Chucky really is dead. I was really messed up. I was getting fake BSOD’s, my Windows wallpaper was gone and replaced with a Spyware ad, my desktop icons and taskbar vanished and I had to get into my system by hitting CTRL-ALT-DEL and going through the task manager, and access to most sites was somehow blocked. Even Google wouldn’t work. I was thoroughly FUBAR. I’m thinking of naming my firstborn drachillix.

Happy to help, if you ever find yourself wanding through Fresno give me a ring and we can have a micro(brew)dopefest.

One of the big microbrew distributors in town is one of my customers
