Some people apparently like trump as a person

Who are you talking to?

Of course. Being personable is a calculated tool for manipulating people. Likability is completely dependent on context, and why one person likes another has a lot to do with the vested interests of each.

Apart from that he clearly has a childish need for approval for its own sake, and that is what the election was fundamentally all about for him. That’s why he still wants to go to rallies, where all he has to do is spew out bullshit and everyone will eat it up. But when someone who has a modicum of critical thinking skills points out that he’s full of shit, then he throws a temper tantrum and is no longer so likable. He’s only likable so long as he gets what he wants.

Nitpick: Your belief was proven right. The majority of the voters were smart enough. But that majority wasn’t distributed in a way that got the result the majority wanted.

The election results that showed that Trump lost the popular vote by several million? That he won three key states with a variance within the margin of error?

That’s not a flaw with polling. That’s a flaw with how polling was interpreted.

Americans may finally be learning what citizens of other countries knew a long time ago: national polling numbers are rather meaningless when it comes to a riding-by-riding or district-by-district count.
