Some people online today, are profoundly mentally ill!

That’s crazy.

Did you report the guy’s posts to the forum admins?

Yeah, I did report him. Plenty of times. He just signs up another account right afterwards and does the same shit over and over again obsessively, but mostly this really only occurs now on the forum that has no moderators left.

Like I said, I think he’s from one of these old Resident Evil forums I posted on years ago, because I had a huge amount of bother with the users on those forums. He made comments about my sister as well, saying he would rape her in front of my nephews. Fortunately, he was gone from one forum within hours of posting that, and the moderator apologised for me having to put up with such an idiot. But he’s still active daily on that forum about relationship advice, making dozens of accounts and replying to his own posts, despite the fact that nobody else posts there anymore.

At least when this year is up, I’m not going to care about forums and people’s YouTube videos. I’ve lost interest in forums because most of them are not that active any more, and I promised myself I’d give them up at the end of this decade in order to focus on getting my life sorted, since I’ve had problems with other people apart from him that I actually know personally. And I still want to act in films, but for anything I’m not credited in, I won’t bother adding it on imdb.com or mentioning it online, since he will try to look for the films after they are released. I guess I couldn’t stop him in that case. I’ll probably still have to inform the people in charge about what has been going on, in case they put my name on the pages for the films and he starts bothering them. You have to add external links on there to verify that a film is real, so he could end up trying to contact the cast and crew. He already contacted a guy already, to inform him that I put a film on Internet Archive. They’re usually understanding about this sort of stuff, and I won’t display my name as a donator on Indiegogo either.

I still think you oughta get off of all social media. Delete and unsubscribed, now. Why wait? You’re jusr dragging it out. Concentrate on your acting. If he’s really down under I think a in-person physical encounter is unlikely. Move on to better and higher pursuits. IMO

I don’t think that would be a problem here. The moderators would jump all over him. Same with the various relationship subreddits (they have so much traffic that complaints would flood in).

What I would like to know if how does the cyberstalker find the victim? Is the victim always using the same user name?

Nah. He doesn’t scare me. I just think he’s a proper nuisance, and not at all mature for his age.

His name wouldn’t be Carlos Albuquerque, would it?

I made some grammar errors in the initial post, but oh well. I cannot edit it now. :o

Now I’m just gonna ignore that clown 100% and that’s because you have to starve trolls of attention, but it’s by no means an easy feat.

I don’t know how he kept finding me on other sites, but he knows I post on many survival horror related forums. But they’re all dying.

And yet they are so much nicer and less offensive terms than “mentally ill”

In my experience it’s the malignant narcissist one has to watch out for on Internet, the dynamics of Social Media both enable, empower and encourage such people to become the worst they can be.

I have a story to be told but I don’t know how much I could say in the SDMB.

Wait, insane or crazy is nicer than mentally ill?

There are apparently a couple of facebook groups for foreigner residents in Taiwan. I saw that because I rarely use facebook myself.

Some guy decided he hated my friend for whatever reason, creates scores of socks and posts hate messages about this friend. They delete one account, he creates another, he sends more garbage attacking my friend, they delete it, rinse and lather. My friend says it’s been going on for three years no.

I’m sorry to hear that, TokyoBayer. There’s too many xenophobic, racist and all around daft people in this world. I hope whoever did that on the Facebook group has been outed forever.

Well, yes.

If I call you insane, with or without the additional qualifier “batshit”, everyone knows I’m offering an ordinary opinion, one that basically unpacks to “you seem insane to me”. Everyone knows it’s possible that the problem lies with me and not with you when I call you insane.

If I call you mentally ill, I’m alleging that an expert medical opinion has found your brain synapses to be out of order, that you have a medical disorder of the neurons, a chemical imbalance making your brain misbehave. Unlike calling someone batshit insane, it pretends to position itself as a statement rendered in kindness, a compassionate warning to all who hear it that you should not be held accountable for the nonsense that you are spewing, you can’t help it, poor dear, your brain is not in working order. Instead of pointing a finger at our heads and spinning it while rolling our eyes, we are all supposed to shake our heads sadly and sympathetically. And because this is positioned as an informed expert medical opinion, we’re not supposed to unpack at as “it could be the speaker who is nutso and the person being spoken about makes perfectly good sense”.

If it were my board and I made the rules, no poster could ever refer to anyone as mentally ill unless the person in question had identified themself in that way and embraced the diagnosis.

Uh! OK.

Technicalities…

“Insane” is actually a legal term. You won’t find it in any Diagnostic Manual or medical codes.

“Mental illness” is a garbage bucket that collects any and all medical diagnoses.

“Batshit crazy,” “looney toons,” “a few sandwiches short of a picnic,” and (one of my favorites) “missing some raisins from their toast” are all colloquialisms which are absolutely NOT politically correct.

Depends on who you’re calling “a few sandwiches short of a picnic.” If you call someone who is genuinely mentally ill “a few sandwiches short of a picnic,” in describing their behavior (which may or may not be irrational at that given moment—it may jut be that they’ve dared to object to your mistreatment of them or something like that and you’re hoping to minimalist them) and that’s… call it “not PC” or whatever if you want to, but I’d just call it being a jerk.

Conversely, if you were to describe someone who has been behaving like a jerk or just downright irrationally (but for unknown reasons) as “mentally ill,” I’d imagine you probably mean that as an insult, as if it’s a label to apply to someone who is somewhat lesser than you, in which case you would also be a jerk. It’d be kind of like wondering aloud if someone who dropped a tray at a restaurant and sent plates crashing to the floor has Parkinson’s. You can try and insist you’re just genuinely concerned for their well-being or insist it’s “merely an observation,” but you’d still be a jerk.

I know, KNOW a few ‘mental’ persons. Not ill in any way. They are just ‘mental’. I avoid these persons.

People on other forums tend to get under my skin, and it’s not just that Kiwi bozo either. I was on a Silent Hill forum recently, and one guy there is trying to stir up trouble. If they banned me, it wouldn’t bother me at all. I’m the only guy that really posts (a lot) on there besides a few other users, so if they were to act dirty and get rid of me, then good luck getting any more active members to discuss a dead franchise. In fact, the thread they bumped was an old, “I’m retiring from forums” thread from nearly 6 months ago. I’m sure the guy that is posting allegations was also on NeoGAF, where I got banned because the members were behaving like the usual, snooty fanboy types, and he mentioned that, and they had a problem with me expressing how I felt about the Resident Evil 2 remake.

Sometimes, I am inclined to ramble a bit on forums, but I do have a condition called PDD-NOS. I don’t know if that’s why I ramble, but I’m just a passionate Resident Evil fan, and I like other horror games too. Hell, if I wasn’t a horror fan, why have I got so many boxes that are all filled with either horror movies, or horror related video games? It’s just that I have played all the Resident Evil games from 1996 up to now, and I don’t like the direction the series has gone in, thanks to Capcom repeatedly screwing it up. That doesn’t mean I’m going to damn all the fans that like the new games. It’s their own choice whether they like them or not, but I cannot say I agree with their taste.

I also hate the fact that some people on YouTube are backbiters. I defended a guy by the name of Nemesis over a year ago, because other YouTubers made out he was a loser who should be blacklisted for misleading the fans. At the time, he already had a modest amount of followers, but his channel actually used to be one that focused on some anime program. It was only 2 years ago that he started drawing attention to himself with his Resident Evil rants. They were all very similar tangents about how Shinji Mikami had to come back and work for Capcom again in order to save the franchise, because Capcom was ruining it. He said that Shinji Mikami was his idol growing up, and that Capcom had destroyed his creation, and he kept this up until E3 last year.

Although I agreed with his statements, I said something out of line and made myself look dumb in general, because I also had a video where I admitted that I caught a mouse, and I had it in my bath so it couldn’t run off. In other videos, I was pretending that a toothbrush was a microphone, where I tried to stick up for that guy, and then they made videos to slag me off as well. Well, the guys that were mocking this Nemesis (who sounded like he was on an acid trip back then) stopped talking about him, and then they eventually coaxed him into deleting his rage videos. Now they’re doing podcasts with him, and acting like I’m the bad guy, and like they’ve buried the hatchet with Nemesis. After that garbage, I promised myself I’d definitely quit forums at the end of 2019 and never support anybody online ever again. The Internet just makes you lonely and depressed, and my mother said I should stop watching his live streams if it bothers me that he mentions me.

Nemesis is the guy in the first video, who is yelling like a maniac.
