I was walking through the courtyard yesterday when I saw the handyman and a neighbour kid assembling something. I asked what it was, and the handyman told me it was a bike rack. I asked him if David (the notoriously penny-pinching owner of this apartment building and several others across the country) was paying for it. (As if!) He said David Tightwad was paying for it. So I asked when we were going to get a fence and gates for the carports. The handyman just laughed. So I quipped, “That’s probably exactly what David would say.”
I thought the handyman was going to bust a gut. Damn, he thought that was funny! He was still laughing as I went up the short flight of stairs to my apartment.
Weird, eh? I mean, it might have been worth a snicker; but this guy was laughing his head off. It’s weird what people will think is funny.
Maybe that’s why there are so many stupid low-brow comedies.
(But hey, if it makes you feel good then more power to you.)
