Some relief for divorced partners of people in student loan debt may be on its way

The Senate has passed, by unanimous consent, the Joint Consolidation Separation Act, allowing married couples who consolidated their student loans in exchange for a lower interest rate (a program that was shuttered in 2006) the ability to separate those loans. This will be especially gratifying for divorced couples and people who are separated from abusive partners.
