Oh, come on - EVERYONE uses the term ironically because the movie put it into the public consciousness. I’ve seen people on this board use “yellow fever,” a derivative of “jungle fever,” to describe their taste for asians. SERIOUSLY.
I was hoping for a thread like this to come along- thanks VCO3, my man!
Um, yeah. I think you may be taking your posting activities a little bit too seriously.
Oh, why don’t you stop dancing about and use the “N-word” already? At least that way there will be no confusion that you ARE a racist troll, and your inevitable banning will come that much sooner (and, might I add, will be that much sweeter.)
C’mon, VC03, the clock is ticking so you might as well post as many hate-filled, spiteful, vitrolic statements as you can before your time expires.
And VCO3, seriously, even I can tell the previous thread and a few others of yours can maybe be viewed as crossing the line a bit to those in charge. So as someone who thinks you add flavor to the board, do reel it in a bit it- it wouldn’t be the same without you.
Seriously? Where?
I think he adds flavor to the board too; I will usually at least open (and read) most of his threads.
But I recognize a baiting schtick when I see one.
I don’t use the term, ever. Do you know why? It’s because it’s racist.
Actually the idea of a white guy being hot for black girls, yet not caring much for black guys, is an interesting phenomenon- I know a guy like VCO3 in this regard.
Well, Qagdop doesn’t insert comments about how D&D is worthless because it’s all copied from LoTR, EvilCaptor doesn’t start threads telling people other kinds of sex and/or movies are worthless, Nava works her Spain references into her comments rather well (IMHO) and Indiegrrl… well, I don’t know that much about her (outside of her “Ask the Stripper” thread)
They don’t throw out transparent comments that attempt to be “edgy” and come out rather flat.
In other words: if you’re really interested in “race”, you should document yourself and stop starting trite threads that are not really enlightening.
And before any of you start junior modding me about using the term, take a look at these threads.

There are pages and pages of threads with people using the term.
This is a goddamned witch hunt.
Oh, no, not one of those “My best friend is a . . .” posts.
And he’s only hot for them if they’re not “damaged goods.”
Am I the only one who can’t read these threads because they keep thinking “jungle fever, doodly doo, doodly doo” and continuously have to remind myself that that’s not how the song goes?
Excuse me? I have never said anything of the sort.
I just ran a search and it only returns 250 posts, the first 25 of which are predominately about malaria. The only post I saw that actually used it in the context of fetishizing Asians that was also self-applied was a post by **Autolycus **back in June, when he said "…I’m not sure if it’s the exoticism, or the often child-like look, or what, but Japanese cuteys really get my juices flowin’, if you get my drift. In juvenile vernacular, one would call it ‘yellow fever.’ "
No, it isn’t. It’s kitschy and goofy, but it’s not racist! Look at the pages and pages of people using the term on this board alone, including black posters, and tell me it’s a racist or forbidden term akin to “that N word.”
Well, if he was a one-trick-pony, I might even agree with you. But the thing is, he constantly spews out “provocative” threads (kids who order lobster should get AIDS, people having 500k in the bank yet considering oneself middle-class should be beheaded, etc. etc.).
He is either:
- Extremely dumb and unable to see how his worldview clashes with most on this board
- Trying to bait the people around here
I think number 2 applies. And it’s not even a well executed schtick.
The thing about it for me is this: VC03 has made a large number of perfectly appropriate and interesting threads and posts on a wide variety of topics.
VC03, you absolutely should have known better than to think the locked thread was okay, dude. And since this is apparently just the latest in a pattern of behavior… Look, even if you think people are being unreasonable, if they don’t want you doing something while you hang out with them, and you still want to hang out with them, then have the courtesy to cut it out.
I really don’t want to see you have a meltdown and get kicked. If you don’t understand why people don’t like your comments about black people, or if you just get a kick pushing people’s buttons with it, just stop. Please.
It’s like with Der Trihs, he’s a cool guy, read his Cafe Society posts, or pretty much anything he says outside of Great Debates and/or the BBQ Pit, and you’ll see what I mean. But I’ve learned not to even bother with him when it comes to religion or politics, because he’s a hard-line extremist. But at least he seems to know where to draw the line and not get into trouble.
I disagree. As do many others.
Oh, come on. Seriously. You really can’t see giant rocks on that train’s tracks?
Let’s see.
-
Genetic bouillabaisse. You make it sound like purebread or, at best, mildly mulatto is good, but anything more is a mutt.
-
Jungle fever. I can’t can’t say any more than has already been said and it’s obvious this one just doesn’t sink in.
-
The entire last sentence. That one speaks volumes for itself.
You know, if you’d left out those three points your OP might have even been worthy of discussion. But you didn’t, and I can only think of two reasons why: A) There’s some kind of supermassive singularity that blocks your view of how offensive, arrogant, and contrary your posts come across as, and also seems to suck all attempts at pointing these things out into eternal oblivion, or B) You’re a troll. I honestly can’t decide which.
I challenge you to start a post that follows the following format:
- Is at least marginally interesting and substantive enough to generate a few responses,
- Contains no offensive references to race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, political affiliation, nationality, or any other specific segment of the human race,
- Doesn’t make any uncalled-for jabs at the media, politics, or specific segments of society whom you feel may be responsible for any perceived oversight your post may contain,
- Doesn’t take a contrarian point of view that makes your post look like you’re spoiling for another fight.
I’m willing to bet you can’t.
