Some shitty mod closed my thread without as much as an explanation.

I’m not defending this ‘just because’, but with those I know, at work and home, jungle fever has become an inocuous term- like “ooh Bob has jungle fever”. This includes prudes. VCO3 also has a point in that there is no way at that time, a studio would release a semi major film with an offensive title. No way. And no, he didn’t coin the term.

Not to mention the pop instrumental of the same title from 1972 that made top 10 on the pop charts. So if the thread is questioned fine, but shouldn’t be on the basis of that term. Plus the backup he just produced…

So making threads that provoke responses is a bannable offense?! Has this board gone INSANE? I always post in the appropriate forum. I discuss records, books, and movies in Cafe Society, opinions in IMHO, I ask general questions in GQ, and sometimes I pop into GD to debate. When I need to take the gloves off and spew a shiczo rant, I always do it in the pit. That’s what the pit is there for - to flame, to freak out, to let loose the bile without the need for a “cite.” If people disagree with me, that’s fine - that’s what the pit is for! They can bash back like roman gladiators! I can’t stand people telling me I’m doing something wrong for posting controversial or angry things in the pit - THAT’S WHY THE PIT EXISTS!

Seriously, man. I’m not the only one in this thread trying to tell you, because we like you when you’re not talking about black people, that you really need to cut it the fuck out or you won’t have an out to cut anymore.

Do a post history search, dumbass. You just described the vast majority of my posts.

But you aren’t fascinated with race! You’re fascinated with black people, as if they were some separate species living a glass tank for you to make notes about on your clipboard. You may be attracted to them, or afraid of them, or even just puzzled by them, but you certainly have a very strange attitude which makes the board uncomfortable and you KNOW that.

To be honest, the first thing I thought when i saw the thread title was that you were trying to get yourself banned.

If you seriously don’t understand the issue with what you said, you need to at least develop some better manners.

I’m not even talking about trying to change your perspective, because quite frankly reading some of your posts I don’t think that any kind of statement of facts/arguement etc will dissuade you from thinking your behaviour is acceptable.

It’s not. And I don’t think it takes a superbright person to realise that. And since you can type semi-coherently, I’m going to assume that you’re not totally without some kind of smarts, and that you know exactly how bad your behaviour is.

Now it’s just becoming boring and pathetic.

That was Jungle Boogie by Kool and the Gang.

Not Fever.

Besides his history of (a) bringing up topics about Black people with deliberately or obtusely provocative posts, and (b) being obsessed about Black people but never seeming to have participated in threads about Black culture that he didn’t start (where he could have actually learned something), theres the above.

  1. Why “sister”? Why not “woman” or “young woman”? (If it was a little girl, I’ll find you myself.)

  2. Why “straightened hair”? Why not “nicely styled hair”?

  3. Except for possibly referencing someone we might know, why mitigate her Blackness? Surely, there’s a Black woman in the news who would come close enough to serve an avatar?

  4. A diversionary tactic if I ever saw one.

This post is a shining example of your own bias coming through. WHERE did I say that someone was a “mutt?!” Where did I say anything about anyone being a “purebread” [sic]? There was no judgement in that post, just an observation about what the woman looked like! Your own bias, your own need to be offended and to find offense where there is none is what makes you read it that way. I was talking about the “genetic bouillabaisse” of someone pan-racial like Tiger Woods, where he contains so many nationalities that he’s even made up a joke term for his race (“cablinasian”).

Actually, I’ve seen many of VCO3’s posts (and threads ) that are not designed to be provocative but simply in line with a normal thread. (Heck, even “provocative” threads of his have been “reeled in” and end up being rather interesting).

It’s just that he seems to have the notion that he has to stand out and be “provocative”… or something. And that’s getting to be very annoying. YMMV.

Where’s banhattan when you need him?

Hey good to see you VCO3, gives me a chance to say “Good Bye”. I hope you enjoy your flame-out, it looks like a good one.

Jim

I just want to say that Dance Hall Days is the best song ever.

Also, I love orange soda.

I apologize. I was wrong on that one.

Jungle Fever by the Chakachas. Reached #3 on the charts.

Fever. Chakachas. Much funkier than Jungle Boogie

No worries. But #11 R&B, #8 pop.

Why? This speaks volumes about you. Is talking about race or mentioning races a bannable offense on this board? The way you’d talk about it, you’d think the thread title was “kill all black women” or “black women are inferior.” It was in praise of gorgeous black women!

I agree with VC03 that “jungle fever” is not necessarily racist terminology. I see it used as per Wee Bairn’s example above and I would too. I think what it shows is that a lot of SDMB members are uncomfortable talking about black people period and they are so afraid of offending anyone that they think posting an innocuous thread about “I saw a hot black woman today” is offensive. What’s offensive is the number of “consecutive thread titles” and other boring ass shit in MPSIMS.

What, you’re going to fucking threaten me now!? And accuse me of looking at a fucking child? What the fuck is wrong with you? I’m clearly talking about a black adult businesswoman - why would you even infer something like that!?

Because her hair was straightened, which is a specific style of hair. I won’t say “styled hair” if I can be more specific and say “a perm” or “a pixie cut.”

There was - Rosario Dawson.

I’m going to say the same thing I said in GuyinBlueJeans thread.

Walk away while you’re ahead. You seem like a member that CAN ACTUALLY contribute some good stuff…but you seriously need to either start thinking before you post…or actively stay away from certain topics for awhile.

I remember we had a few other posters with subjects they weren’t allowed to talk about (Silo and his big penis, Reeder and Bush, Handy and medical advice, Evil Captor and BDSM threads, etc)…maybe if you actually try to not mention (or at least show) your seeming obsession with black people, people might not think you were such a troll.

At least it’d be one less thing they’d call you out on.

But seriously, it’s time to quit or take a break and post other topics for a bit because you seem to be dangerously close to the edge. I remember you were Suspended already once…the next time I think it’s a longer stretch. : / One that lasts indefinitetly.

Sorry, I was trying to be pithy and slightly provocative. Everything else I’ve written in this thread stands.
