I bet she was thinking of, “Let’s Do It For Our Country.”
Oh, sure. You can afford to have Bruce_Daddy killed, but you bill me for your therapy.
Oh, we get the point. But, you know, you’re engaged to her and stuff, and probably wouldn’t be that receptive to the ol’ eyeballs-wired-open-Grease-2-on-the-widescreen-electrodes-clamped-to-the-nipples cure.
Whoa…did I just say that out loud??
Could be worse. I’d been married for over a year when I discovered my husband LIKES country decor. “What do you mean, you want to paint over all the stencils? I like them!”

So what song from Grease 2 is she suggesting?
Or, if their colors are red & blue, “Doin’ it for your country”
My gosh, what a horrid musical. But, as flaws go, liking “Grease 2” is very low on the list. It just means that she never, ever, ever gets near the TiVo or gets to pick out a movie. Ever.
heh. After Cardsfan and I got married, we were talking one day and the subject of music came up. His ex girlfriend liked Berlin. I was like ewwwww!!! I actually married you, and you dated a girl that liked Berlin! We still laugh about it today
There are far worse things in life, trust me. You are two completely different people with different tastes in movies, music and probably a lot of other things I’m sure, that have found a common ground. Don’t expect her to change her likes and dislikes to what you want, and I am sure she won’t expect you to change for her.
Find humor in your differences, and cherish life to it’s fullest. If she likes Berlin though you may be in trouble.
Tiggrkitty,
Thanks for the very sweet post! My OP was *very * tongue-in-cheek (and hence here instead of The Pit). I love her to death and we actually get along great. It was just a bit of shock to realize that she truly likes a musical I consider a complete piece of crap. In the end, if she can put up with golf and the many hundreds of things that make me a pain in the ass, I can overlook Grease 2 (shudder). I did ask if I she would put a clause in her vows that she would never make me watch it with her. I have my sanity to think of.
And I actually like Berlin (a little). I think it has more to do with what was going on in my life when they were popular than the quality of the music though.
Uvula Donor - thanks for a laugh first thing in the morning! Take out the Grease 2 part and it’d be just another evening in the Zakalwe house.
amarinth - she never gets near the Tivo because it scares her. She tried one time to record a show and got something on a different channel at the wrong time. Hee! I have the power of the remote and the power of the Tivo. I am man!
eww and I actually answered your post!
Seriously, I wish you and your bride to be all the happiness in the world. We have a rule at our house; make sure we laugh out loud at least once a day together. If you can do that, life really isn’t that hard.
But…but…it’s just a little bit. That’s not so bad is it?
Again, thanks for the good thoughts. Most of the time our problem is to find a time each day to be serious.
Yeah! I just got off the phone with her and we have a location! Whew! That was really the only thing that was stressing her about this and now it’s solved. My life just got a bunch easier.
