Somebody forgot to tell me a new "Amazing Race" has started!

“No more stairs.”

That was brutal.

Sorry to see the sisters go, they were fun. I LOL’ed at their remarks on the mat about how much their relationship has improved during the race, when they were still bickering with each other through most of the leg.

I’m amazed they even considered going for the Express Pass when they knew they were the last team to arrive. And I can’t believe people still don’t know the bedrock rule of the race - no team has ever lost by spending an extra 3 seconds to make sure they’re doing a task correctly. Plenty of teams have lost by not spending that extra 3 seconds.

And yet they still managed to not come in last (although it was damn close). If they had been paying attention and seen the “taken” sign for the Express Pass and not wasted a bunch of time, they could have finished middle of the pack.

That redneck dude who mistreats and bullies his wife has gotta go.

I am cool with everyone else.

Anna Leigh is pretty rotten to her dad; wouldn’t mind seeing her get eliminated.

Yeah, but it’s nice to see a dude that age participating, and if she goes, so does he.

The team I don’t really care for right now is Robbin and Chelsea. They rely on following other teams rather than reading route instructions. And during the coin task a few episodes back, one of them just kept taking an increasing amount of coins to the judge until she got it right rather than take the time to figure out how it worked. Yeah, they got it but it was lazy. Lack of attention to detail will probably end up biting them in the ass.

One small mistake at the beginning of the leg, and it just got worse from there.

And Robbin and Chelsea are gone. They got a very weird edit. One minute saying they were going to have a better attitude, the next saying they wish Phil would put them out of their misery and then back to saying they just wanted to enjoy it. I don’t think they enjoyed it much at all. They certainly didn’t have an attitude that will win you the race.

My favorites are still Rob and Corey. I hope missing the buoy information reminds them to pay close attention to the tasks. I do like Greg and John, too. I’m neutral on Joel and Garrett. They haven’t done anything to stand out. I don’t like Steve and Anna Leigh or Todd and Ashley. The bickering is annoying.

Finally got caught up from last week. It was hilarious to see the beardy guys sneak in a first place finish as the leading three teams got lost as a group on the way to the mat. I felt sorry for Steve, mostly because that would be me (old fart trying to keep up and not have a heart attack). Glad to see Todd and Ashley gone. I’m happy enough with the final four. Looking forward to the finals!

Yeah, he was abusive towards her. That was a toxic relationship.

I’m surprised they allowed the deaf father to sign his quote, given the challenge was to recite the quote VERBATIM. My understanding is that English → ASL is nothing at all like verbatim, unless maybe he fingerspelled each word, which he wasn’t doing. They should have had him write it out instead.

I thought of that too, but I don’t know if there was another fair way to do that task. My question was, who among the crowd in the pub knew ASL? They were booing when anyone reciting the quote made a mistake, but could anyone there really tell if Rob was just making it up as he went along?

I would think that, knowing Rob was one of the contestants, the producers would have had to make sure that there was a judge (or someone to consult with the judge) present who was fluent in ASL.

It’s true that the structure of ASL is rather different from English, but I agree with you in not seeing any other fair way to do it. If they’re going to have a deaf contestant they have to make these kind of accomodations.

I think it’s Rob and Corey’s race to lose at this point.

Probably true, but it was shot in such a way as to look like the patrons in the pub were the judges. It also looked like they had the quotes memorized.

I assume all the teams will be on the same flight to Seattle, so they won’t carry much of their lead into the final leg.

I wish I was in this Race; I know Seattle pretty well.

I was really happy to see Rob and Corey get first place and would like for them to win it all. But I got a feeling from the conversation they had on the mat that they aren’t the winners. The show spent more time on their conversation than with the other two teams. They talked with Phil about how much they have enjoyed racing with each other and the unique challenges they have faced. It felt like something the show wanted to present because they will not get the chance to at the finish line. I hope I’m wrong. They have run a great race. I’m happy with the other two teams as well. I think it will be an exciting finale.

Happy with any of the three teams winning. And all I could think of during the dance roadblock was that the music was Trans-Siberian Riverdance.

Oh, and this:

But why not simply have him WRITE IT DOWN inside the pub? He’s been reading road signs throughout the trip, so I assume he can write as well. Maybe not grade on spelling, if forget if there were any strange words in the quote, but at least you’d know if he skipped any words along the way.

They are my wife’s favorite,

Greg & John (brothers) are clearly the best team. The game is their to lose.

Too bad Anna Leigh couldnt do the Riverdance thing, she’d have fitted right in. It was nice seeing a senior come in 4th place at least. With them gone, the last female is out.
Out of 34, all male teams won 10, all female teams won exactly once. (the rest won by male/female couples and one family)

My faves are Joel and Garrett, but I cheerfully admit they are underdogs- thats maybe why I like them.

I read Ulysses and boy it was a slog- with some moments of “WOW!”. I remembered that triple-quadruple negative quote- brain twister. Joyce was a genius but…
