Someone I know is getting a Web Redemption

He is actually more of my kids’ friend but he has been over to my house more times than I can count and he is one of those kids who makes a point to come over at whatever event and shake my hand and chat with me for a bit. He’s a really good kid and very smart… usually.

He went on a popular game show and won! Unfortunately he only won about $25k but missed out on a car, a trip, and several other things. The way he lost them was… well… memorable and his clips went viral. Fortunately he is a great sport and took it well. He did the morning talk show circuit for a while, and eventually got a call from Tosh’s producers.

He was a bit hesitant but was assured they wouldn’t make him look bad. He was flown out and said Daniel was great. It was tons of fun. He sent a pic of him and Daniel with Daniel made up to look (somewhat) like the host.

Anyway it is supposed to air sometime soon and the new episodes start tonight.

I didn’t mention the show, and I’m really not sure why. I’m sure it isn’t that hard to figure out and if you search for “the worst (insert popular game show here) player ever” I’m sure you can find his clips.

He really is a great and smart kid… just got a bit nervous. I can’t wait to see his redemption.

This guy?

You outed him… not me.

I assume this has something to with the Tosh show, but what the hell is a Web Redemption?

Web redemption is when he takes someone who has gone viral on the internet for a mayor fuckup and lets them redeem themselves.

Tosh is fairly kind to web redeemers.

I missed the edit window but that article is not very good as he wouldn’t have won a million, only the chance to win it if he won the preliminary round, then solved the final puzzle and happened to spin the wheel to that prize. It was still long odds.

And in his defense on the one with two letters left he was convinced he was going to win a car and he answered Car instead of Man because that is what he was focused on.

Sure. Even though you described it in great detail.

By the way, why so concerned about outing a person who was already on TV and is apparently going back on TV willingly?

It was intended in jest… I know I made it extremely easy to figure out. I just didn’t want to use his name or the name of the show so this wouldn’t pick up on Google as easily.

Fans of unabashed, sadly predictable racism should be sure to check out the user comments!

I don’t give a shit what color he is. He makes my beloved home state of Indiana sound stupid. And we don’t need any help from him, thank you!

That doesn’t seem like a number to scoff at. I’m sure it looks easier when you’re sitting at home watching than it is when you’re standing there under all that pressure.

My home state, too. He didn’t say or do anything that most of the people I grew up around wouldn’t. Whether that makes Indianians stupid or not… well, no comment.

Bumping this because the Tosh episode is airing tonight.
