I always feel like I’m very empathetic to spiritual things but I have been on pain meds for about a week and there is someone pacing in the corner of my bedroom. I know it’s never been there before I’ve done complete prayer and sage cleansing of the whole house. Is it possible something came with me from the hospital or it’s just I’m seeing things from pain meds? It’s making me very depressed and scared.
Call your doctor ASAP.
How can you tell something/someone is there? Do you hear it too, or just see it? What does it look like? Are the pain meds opioids like hydrocodone/oxycodone/morphine/whatever? If so, it seems likely you are hallucinating from the medication, and you should definitely do as Rachellelogram suggests and call your doctor; it is possible that you could get your prescription changed to something you don’t have this extremely upsetting reaction to.
I see them. Don’t hear them.
It’s norco. I’m going to ask for something less intense.

Welcome to the SDMB, JLynn.
The forum you have posted in is called the Barn House. It is for topics related to Ed Zotti’s book “THE BARN HOUSE: Confessions of an Urban Rehabber”. Since your post apparently has nothing to do with this book, let’s move it to a more appropriate forum. Medically related questions belong in our In My Humble Opinion forum, so let’s move it there. As the forum name implies, any advice you get there is just the opinions of some online folks and should not be taken as the equivalent of professional medical advice.
Moving thread from the Barn House to In My Humble Opinion.
JLynn, you do not have a spirit in your house. You have a reaction to medication going on in your brain.
Do call your doctor right away.
And its not your fault.
Op- Its just a reaction. Either the dosage is wrong or the medicine itself is wrong for you. It just needs to be corrected ASAP. Please call your Dr & mention that the medication is giving you an awful side effect. He/she may just call in a diff medication to your pharmacy or he/she may just change the dosage, but please don’t wait.
I’m a total fuck up so far on this board. I’m much sad
Forum moves are no big deal at all – they’re quite common, and nothing to worry about.
Welcome to the Dope. Good luck and best wishes with your difficulties.
I’ve been switched to Percocet. Sounds worse IMO but I’ll give it a shot.
It’s been fun here being berated for my lack if knowledge on a conspiracy. Gonna go slap myself around or something
Yeah, what he said.
Welcome to the SDMB.
And, there’s no one there. Really.
Nah, no need to do that. Go into the Pit and watch some heavy-duty berating. Take popcorn if you’re inclined to enjoy some schadenfreude.
Also, a whole lot of people don’t know that opiates can make you see and think all kinds of strange things (and, as Blucher said, it’s not your fault). I had a friend recovering from surgery who passed a note to me saying, “I am going to die today”. He wasn’t remotely close to death; his brain didn’t like the painkillers.
No one’s berating you. They’re just giving you common sense answers. There’s no shame in coming here to seek knowledge. That’s what we’re all here for, so don’t feel bad about not knowing. You took people’s advice to call your doctor and that’s the important thing.
The doctors nurse always speaks to me like I’m the stupidest person alive.
You should speak to your doctor about that, then. His patients deserve to be treated with respect.
Meh. People who have been here over a decade still sometimes post in the wrong forums. No biggie. Don’t worry about it.
Welcome aboard, and I hope you get your meds straightened out. Good luck!
Pics or it didn’t happen!
(She’s actually referring to a different thread on Sandy Hook.)
I’m sorry about your medication troubles. Once my dad was coming off of anathesia and thought he saw bunnies everywhere. Meds can mess with your brain. Hope the Percocet works out.
Medications can do weird stuff to you. I tried the ZzzzQuil tablets once and they made me hallucinate crazy things. I thought I saw a little girl in a white dress doing ballet in my kitchen. I thought I saw a sea turtle hanging out on my table. I thought I saw balloons zooming around on my ceiling. Each time when I got close enough to touch them they disappeared completely. I did some research online and found that severe hallucinations were a side effect of the tablet form of the medication and stopped taking them right away. Hopefully now that you’ve been switched to another medication your hallucinations will stop too.
Oooh, I gotta get me some ZzzzQuil!
