Something really cool I discovered after installing Win2k

I’m sure all you computer guru’s know about this already, but I think its really awesome!

Before doing a fresh install of Win2k on a new HDD: Boot with a Win98 boot disk. Do all your partition stuff. Format your main partition: format c: /s . Put in the Win2k CDROM and boot off it. Install Win2k on the C: partition leaving the file system intact.

After installation, you will have a duel boot with Microsoft Windows as your secondary boot. You can select that boot and it will go straight to the Dos Prompt! No more waiting FOREVER for W2K to boot into Safe Mode with Command Prompt!

Of course, this has some drawbacks: A VERY easy “backdoor” into your system. Can’t use NTFS (unless you format /s a secondary FAT32 partition, but that would probably cause problems) No CDRom drivers (but if you feel like it you can add them manuely) among others.

I guess this is only usefull if you still play those ancient DOS games, or if you actually want that backdoor.
