Now, let me start by saying I’m not usually the tin-foil hat wearing kind of person…
…but…
…this story about the Chinook getting shot down, killing a butt-load of the same guys who shot out Bin Ladens eye (you know, the ones whos security we were all worried about), and now I hear this morning that the brass is claiming to have got the militants responsible for shooting it down!
Wow. Put a bow on that and call it “Wrapped Up!”
Now, again, I’m not the kind of person who would believe the kind of crack-pot conspiracy wet-dream that this could be viewed as. I’m just sayin’ that they sure put a lot of info out for everybody to see, including names and photos (something I found odd, as I’ve never seen that done other than at the end of PBS Newshour) and the whole incident has a strange kind of circular closure. Killers killers killed, all done, nothing to see here, move along.
Of course, I know better than to think this is a sham, and all these guys are heading for a “witness protection” type existance. I would be crazy not to! Maybe its some kind of sick reaction to hearing that a bunch of genuine heros won’t be coming home, and a wretched ache in the pit of my gut for thier families.
Would it help if I pointed out that it has been reported that while the SEALs in the helicopter were in the same unit as the one that killed Bin Laden, none of them were actually involved in the operation?
I do agree that it is a little hard to believe that while they aren’t 100% sure that it was an RPG that took the helicopter down, they are sure that they got the guy that shot it.
My cousin was killed by an IED in Afghanistan back in October. He was low on the totem pole, Lance Cpl, and his name was put out in several media outlets along with the other marines that were killed in the same attack.
His parents were told a few days later, just before his burial, that they believed that they’d located and killed the person who’d planted/detonated the device.
