Something strange at a porn site

Yes, I know, saying there’s something strange at a porn site is overstating the obvious. Even better, this is one of those stories that’s “not about me, I have a friend who was looking at a porn site…”

Anyway, I have a friend who was looking at what he refered to as an “adult” site. He called me at two in the morning (!) because the site showed someone’s drivers license. He was half asleep and babbling on about how he had enlarged the picture and was going to write a letter to the person warning them that their private information was on this website. He was also saying something about a social security number.

I finally got him to tell me what the photo looked like. It turns out it was a picture of a man (clothed) holding up a drivers license and a social security card. I pointed out to him that most people don’t pose for photos like this.

He further told me that this site was “messed up” because when he clicked on a thumbnail, he didn’t get the photo it showed. He would be taken off to some other photo, like the one he was worried about.

I told him it seemed suspicious. It smells of scam to me, but I can’t quite see how it would work. I also suggested to him that the photo may have been of someone holding up a fake drivers license. I can imagine someone doing this to show off their new fake license, or as an ad for a website that sells them.

Does anyone have any theories? The end of it was I yelled at my friend, because he kept babbling on and I was sleepy. He was so sleepy he didn’t seem to be able to understand me half the time. He thinks I’m mad at him for looking at porn. It’s kind of funny to me, I keep pointing out to him he didn’t have to tell me what kind of site it was. My brother thinks it’s funny that our friend clicked on a thumbnail of a nude woman, go a photo of a clothed man, and is worried about the man! Most people would be mad because they didn’t get the photo they wanted.

I recently watched a naughty video of “amateur scenes” (they sure looked like seasoned pros to me), and after each vignette, the participants would introduce themselves to the camera in a close-up shot. Then the camera would zoom out to show the particpant holding up a driver’s licence and their social security card.

Maybe what you (sorry, your friend) saw was a still shot from one of these flicks.

Thanks for your answer! I’ll bet that was it.
